Forums - Sales Discussion - How many units will the Switch sell in 2020?

Switch sales for 2020?

Less than 19M 2 2.22%

19M-21M 12 13.33%

22M-24M 41 45.56%

25M-27M 24 26.67%

28M-30M 7 7.78%

30M+ 4 4.44%

Total:90

According to VGChartz, Switch sales are up 77%YoY from 2019 and has sold 9.5Million through the first 24Weeks of 2020, which is unheard of for a Home Console with the closest one being the Wii, which sold 8.2M in first 24 Weeks of 2008

For comparison, it took the Switch 40 Weeks to reach 9.5M sold in 2019, compared to only 24Weeks in 2020.

Let's say the Switch keeps its 77%YoY growth for the rest of 2020, Switch sales would sell a ridiculous 34M in 2020 ALONE, never has been done by a video game system in history.

It's obviously unlikely the Switch will maintain it's 77%YoY growth for the rest of year, but even a more conservative 30% growth would put the Switch selling 25M in 2020 alone.

Even if the Switch had the exact same sales as 2019 for every week from this point out, the Switch would sell a really good 22M for 2020.

IMO 22M is the minimum of what the Switch will sell in 2020 unless shortages hurt it.

The Switch sold 19.3M in 2019 according to VGchartz, how much do you expect in 2020.

My prediction is 25M for 2020.

I went with 22m to 24m.

Signature goes here!

I am confident in 22m-27m. After that it comes down to how good I think the rest of the Switch games are for this year (which is a total guess). I went with the optimistic approach and voted 25m-27m.

over 25 million easy.
I have 21 million in my bio but that was back in December 2019 before all the Covid stuff. Gonna update it in July 1, so when the second half of the year begin.

Voted for 25-27 million.

Imma say 22

22-24 million range. I genuinely feel this will be the peak year. Even if it's not a huge drop, I expect 2021 to be in the 17-19 million range. But who knows.

Lifetime Sales Predictions

Switch: 151 million (was 73, then 96, then 113 million, then 125 million, then 144 million)

PS5: 115 million (was 105 million) Xbox Series S/X: 57 million (was 60 million, then 67 million)

PS4: 120 mil (was 100 then 130 million, then 122 million) Xbox One: 51 mil (was 50 then 55 mil)

3DS: 75.5 mil (was 73, then 77 million)

22 units?  Clearly trolling.

COVID19 effect is real so it's hard to gauge as this literally a once in a lifetime event, in some ways the most significant global event since World War II.

You have basically huge swaths of school kids who had school basically end in March/April and the traditional "summer vacation" is out for a lot of people too as 7 to 14-day quarantines are the norm for most international travel or a big money summer holiday simply not being feasible for a lot of people anymore.

If you're a parent losing your mind at home to kids running around all day with nothing to do, a new game console is a godsend especially when you have to smooth over the disappointment of telling them they're not going to Disneyworld or whatever that was promised 6 months ago ain't gonna happen now.

There's no real precedent for any of this but it looks like all active game platforms are seeing a significant surge in sales.

There's no option in the poll for 1-2 billion units. Clearly, the OP is trolling.
