Playstation's new rule about recording conversations.

in Sony Discussion 5 days ago

These big companies are always doing shit to cover their own asses and get more of our data. That's what this is, of course. I'd prefer that they not do it, but that's just not the way big companies work in 2020. The only way to stop them is to refuse to agree to the new TOS, which will mean not using PSN. It would take at least a few percent of people to take that route to get Sony to give a...

Your lifetime sales expectations for PlayStation 5?

in Sales Discussion on 14 October 2020

I guessed 100-109.99. if I need to choose a number, I'll go with 102mm. As others have said, I expect the pie to stay about the same size (though maybe grow a little, as MS is offering a lower cost entry point), and I will expect XB to do significantly better. Signs also point to a short generation (5-6 years), so that's not conducive to high system sales. Probably the low cost XB will grow...

Best console not by Sony/Nintendo

in Gaming Discussion on 10 October 2020

To strictly answer the question which is best, I voted XBone. It just is a superior system to everything that came before it,.as is almost always the case with a given piece of current gen tech. If we want to talk about which one was the biggest deal in its time, that would have to be Atari 2600, followed by Genesis and XB360. 2600 was *the* machine at that time. The competitors that did...

Gamestop Announces MICROSOFT Partnership!? Microsoft Buying The Company? Shocking

in Microsoft Discussion on 09 October 2020

vivster said: Nobody should ever buy Gamestop unless they're doing it for scrap parts. That is very likely going to be the fate of GameStop.  Somebody will buy them out of bankruptcy in a few years, shed some debt, greatly reduce the store count, and continue on.  The name and inventory are valuable, but I don't think they can reduce the store count quickly enough to avoid...

Why did the Gamecube fail?

in Nintendo Discussion on 07 October 2020

I think the reality is that PS2 was the top dog, and XB was seen as the alternative. There wasn't enough room in the market for GC. The Gamecube looked like a toy, was named like a toy, and was generally not taken seriously. ...

Will Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 big the biggest leap gaming has yet to see?

in Gaming Discussion on 06 October 2020

Conina said: The_Liquid_Laser said: 1) The biggest leap is easily Gen 2 to 3.  Graphically it's a transition from 1D to 2D gaming.  On the Atari 2600, I'm controlling dots and stick figures, while on the NES I'm actually controlling discernable 2D characters, each with a unique look.  Atari games like Pitfall 1 + 2, River Raid, Solaris, Pole Position,...

Jeffrey Grubb: Auto HDR is one of next gens coolest features

in Microsoft Discussion on 06 October 2020

SvennoJ said: Auto HDR yuck. That will put many people off HDR as a real improvement to games. It's bad enough TV manufacturers do it. At least you can turn it off? If a game or movie isn't made for HDR, don't add it after the fact. It just looks wrong. I disagree that it's necessarily a bad feature. But, it certainly should be something that can be turned off. Generally speaking,...

Will Xbox Series X and Playstation 5 big the biggest leap gaming has yet to see?

in Gaming Discussion on 06 October 2020

If we're talking about graphics or other technical performance matters, i don't think there is any chance at all that we'll see a very big leap. But, if we're talking about the overall experience of being a gamer and playing games, I could make an argument that we are in the midst of a period of rapid change and advancement. There are more options than ever, more big games than ever, and other...

Your lifetime sales expectations for Xbox Series X|S?

in Sales Discussion on 05 October 2020

Microsoft is much better positioned at the start of the 9th gen than the 8th. However, what's good for the XB brand (Gamepass) may not be great for XB console sales. Nevertheless, I expect that having both the most powerful and the most affordable next gen systems will help. Then there's the expected shorter length of this generation holding numbers down. There's the Bethesda ideal that will...
