Hospitalization numbers started to increase here again this week

Everybody will pretend everything in ok, until elections are over. It will give us 3 weeks delay to treat this new outbreak

By start of December (when I think they will start to take it seriously) situation will be on the same of April, it's not going to be a nice Christmas season

Disgusting scenes of animal cruelty going on in Denmark. They might be about to fuck us all over again because of this. I guess that's human karma after all.

Edit - I might be exaggerating the threat from the virus here but things like this just piss me off big time. Rampant consumerism and anthropocentrism still rule even our "best" societies. The future will see us all as we see nazis or slavers, you can bet on it. If there's a future, after all.

I really feel we should aim for eradication here in Australia, we are low enough that it could be done, but it seems our dimwit PM would rather just aim for suppression because it's easier.

Are you angry about mink farms? ei. people that use fur coats?
Or are you angry about every single mink in denmark, being killed (put down) now due to fears of mutating corona virus that they found in minks?

The reason the mink where put down, was because they found a mutation of the corona virus, which would mean our vaccine wouldnt work anymore.
Luckily they found 15 people with this mutation, and its been months and no other person have been tested positive with this version of corona virus.

Still its in the mink, and theres a possibility of it again going from mink to humans.
So to not become a new Wuhan, the danish goverment decided to put down all mink, so we dont cause a new outbreak of a mutated corona virus.
(entire world spent alot of time & money, makeing vaccines, no one should be risking it)

On a side note, I agree about furr coats ect.
I know some view it the same as us eating meat, we raise and kill animals, what does it matter if its for warm clothes or to feed us.
But I (personally) think aslong as its possible to just use other materials we should.

That said its still legal in denmark, to use animal fur, and raise animals for it.

Do you want a new muation of the virus to spread, outwards from europe and sweep the entire world, makeing all the vaccine research meaningless?

Or do you want to return to a normal life soon, by useing a vaccine that works?

The culling of the minks, was to prevent this mutation of a corona virus they carry, to not mass spread from mink to human again.
The new mutation, is so differnt from the normal corona virus, that vaccines developed for the current corona virus outbreak we have now, wouldnt work on it.
It *could* cause a 2nd wave to sweep the planet, if we wheren't carefull.

It makes alot of sense to me to cull the mink.

USA is now over 10m confirmed cases of corona virus.
Also it had ~133k new infections yesterday.

Holy fudge. Its now growing rapidly in the US again.

France hit 60k!!! omg... this makes the US numbers seem "mild" (its pop is like 1/5th of the US's).
R.I.P France.

Weekly update, growth in cases is slowing down a bit, reported deaths are catching up

Worldwide 3.76 million new cases were reported (up from 3.43 million) bringing the total to 49.6 million, 50 million on Sunday
Reported deaths accelerated this week, 54,766 more deaths (up from 44,534) to a total of 1.25 million

Europe's growth is starting to slow a bit, the USA is speeding up

The continents

Europe reported a record of 1.91 million new cases last week (up from 1.72 million) and 24,210 more deaths (up from 15,602)
North America reported 828.1K new cases last week (up from 656.6K) and 10,826 more deaths (up from 9,449)
Asia reported 644.7K new cases last week (slightly up from 609.7K) and 10,829 more deaths (up from 9,848)

South America reported 289.8K new cases last week (down from 360.5K) and 7,069 more deaths (down from 7,891)
Africa reported 81.6K new cases last week (up from 77.4K) and 1,822 more deaths (up from 1,733)
Oceania reported 2,833 new cases last week (up from 1,604) and 10 deaths (down from 11)

Corners of the world

The USA reported a record 742.3K new cases last week (up from 569.3K) and 7,071 more deaths (up from 5,875)
India reported 324.7K new cases last week (slightly up from 322.5K) and 3,924 more deaths (up from 3,689)
Brazil reported 113.0K new cases last week (down from 163.9K) and 2,473 more deaths (down from 3,034)

Iran reported 58.8K new cases last week (up from 48.1K) and 2,931 more deaths (up from 2,493)
Canada reported 23.8K new cases last week (up from 20.3K) and 326 more deaths (up from 222)
South Africa reported 10.5K new cases last week (down from 11.3K) and 519 more deaths (up from 339)

Japan and South Korea are slowly creeping up while Australia reported 0 deaths for the week.

Europe in detail

The Netherlands has joined Ireland halting the second wave.
The UK and France are thinking about peaking, while the rest are all this growing.
(Spain and Sweden are a week behind since they routinely push new cases backwards)

I'm kinda amazed Italy let it get this far again, so much for herd immunity helping. Deaths are rising fast again as well, already halfway to their previous peak. Poland is in a bad situation, already in 3rd with about 60% the population of France and Italy, 445 deaths reported yesterday, same as Italy.

I'm shocked with the 82k new cases in France yesterdayThere is an epidemic disaster going on there. I don't see how will they control the spread at this point, seems impossible they are doomed to the same state of Brazil or USA, the virus is so spread they will never really disappear, only kept a bit lower We can only hope the virus wont damage people lungs permanently
