I don't pay for things we're not supposed to, and I never will. That includes DLC and online.

As it is now, I wont ever pay for Nintendo's online service.

Anyone have seen any confirmation that Gold Coins can be used as a payment? If that’s the case, my subscription will paid itself next year 😂

Taken from Nintendos Q&A page: Gold Points can be used when purchasing a membership in the Nintendo eShop. They cannot be used for auto-renewal.

I figured that'd be the case once they said you pay with eShop funds, but confirmation is always good. That certainly eases the blow a bit.

Is it sold over the eshop? I can always pay with Gold Coins in the eshop, so if they not explicitly deactivate that for the subs or don't distribute through eshop, then it should work.

I'll probably pay for a month or two, just for smash. After I'm done with that, I won't touch it until it gets better

So that’s one less reason to complain about the pricing.

What do the payment options change? Every Gold Point spent for the subscription can't be spend instead to buy games cheaper.

The German word "Milchmädchenrechnung" comes to mind...

Still undecided. I am waiting to see what kind of price promotions will payed users get for digital games. If its on par to what we get on PS+ I will probably take the bait.
Other than that I do not care for multiplayer, and while the NES games are an added benefit, I know that It will mostly be a novelty for me and my drunken friends in general

For someone like me who spend alot more on physical than digital, that’s a nice perk to have.

I’ve looked at my “to buy list” for till September 2019, just the points I’ll receive from the games I intend to buy physical will cover 75% of the asked price for the subscription. I could spend that on eShop games, I know, but as of now my list for digital games is fairly limited.

So for buyers like me, having an option to uses those coins on something else than games is still a nice perk.

Yes, I will because I play Splatoon, Overcooked 2 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe regularly online.

Besides, it´s cheap. I´m sharing a family account with some friends.

Actually gold points are worth less than the amount of money they can be used for. Because they can only be used on the e-shop. Say you have a good paying job and you get some games and gain gold points. Then something happens: you lose your job, unexpected bills or something like that. You have to save money, but you can still use your gold points. You have to think if you get a game or online for that, but it certainly feels like less of a blow to your pocket. Because basically paying with gold points means paying with money you already spent in the past.

Die Milchmädchenrechnung does it become when you include the future. If you pay with actual money, you get more gold points you could spend in the future. Although, actually I don't know if you get awarded gold points if you buy the online.
