Forums - Sales Discussion - Bold prediction: Dark Souls Remastered will sell most copies on Switch

What do you think?

Not bold, it will outsell... 2 2.53%

Agree, it will sell the most on Switch. 21 26.58%

No, the game will sell most on PS4. 47 59.49%

Crazy, Switch-sales will ... 4 5.06%

It will sell over 9000 copies! 5 6.33%

Total:79

Nah, I think PS4 will take this due to already having an established lion's share of the series fanbase.

Switch may well beat the Xbox One version, however.

Not bold at all! For example ps4 players are busy playing some new incredible exclusive(s).
They already played that game years ago.

I've never been a believer in the idea that people buy games simply because there's not much else coming out.

If that were true, Wii U games like Need for Speed, Splinter Cell, Starfox Zero, etc would've sold gangbusters since the system was starved of games when they released.

I mean, that hasn't stopped other remasters from selling gangbusters :P

It's really a question of established fans vs new fans.  The PS4 will have the lions share of the former, Switch the lion's share of the latter.

OK, another incredible twist to this story: now the Switch-version is released later, while PS4 and XB1 version release as planned in may. This can't be positive for this prediction...

Well, I still uphold it, I think this delay will not affect outcome enough to change it.

I still think the Switch version will outsell the Xbox one Version even with the delay.

Well, so the fuck much for that. Bandai just kneecapped the Switch version. And you can 1000% expect that the marketing focus will completely shift now to PS4 and they'll probably barely bother to mention the Switch version when they release it quietly like an unwanted puppy being tossed out of a parked car on the side of the road. Unless Nintendo fully funds the marketing, the game will be a virtual stealth launch. And if it launches in June or July, it will get completely buried.

Also further exposes the fact that Bandai can't be assed to treat the platform even close to equally since you know damn well that if the PS4 version had a game breaking bug, all versions would be delayed. But here we have the Switch being the lead version in promotion and the first version announced and yet it will be the last one launched.

Bandai just seems determined to remain the most disappointing and disrespectful third party on Switch.

I suspect tech issues, prob framerate

That is one hell of a pity party. Can I just come in, or  is there a cover charge at the door?

Do you know what went wrong? Do you secretly work for Bandai? Without any information is is pretty embarrassing to go on such a rant about a company.

Maybe wait until we get a little information before going all conspiracy theory about Bandai wanting to sink the Switch?

The game looks identical to the PS360 version except at 1080p and a much more stable framerate.  It's a port of a seven year old game and they can't get it out in time and that's just plain sad.

And look,  I'm not a Souls fan.  I have tried to get into it and just can't, I probably won't buy this on any platform.  I'm just incredibly sick and tired of this nonsense.  This is the second year and this game is ancient, there's no reason it should miss May 25th.

And I don't think there's any conspiracy.  I think they just screwed up and clearly, CLEARLY don't have the Switch prioritized nearly as high as they claim they do.  It's patently obvious at this point.  Everyone knows the PS4 and Xbone get the same release date, always, unless one strikes a deal for exclusivity.  They get treated equally.  The Switch doesn't, ever.  And of course that hurts their sales and I will not be shocked at all if they wine and complain about those sales.

And I'm also tired of Bandai Namco.  They talked up their 2018 Switch support, promising game after game after game would be announced.  And here we are and their most noteworthy 2018 game is a 7 year old port that they can't even launch on time.  Nothing else noteworthy announced for the system.  After basically telling people to buy Xenoverse 2 to get FighterZ, after telling people to go "make their voices heard" and hype up Project Cars 2 if they wanted it on Switch (spoiler warning, that was never even possible), after making a big song and dance about how they were going to be serious about the Switch in 2018, this is all they've got and they can't even do that right.

Why is that everytime when people get pissed at a publisher, and with reason, the other side that dosent care that much for that game on that system just screams "Stop this conspiracy talk"?

Nuvendil probably explained much better than me, but I dont know, maybe its just incopetence in their side?I mean, not only was this already announced with a release date, but it was the version that was getting the most marketing push out of all versions. In those instances, i think its normal to assume that they have a schedule planned, and have already covered for any unforeseen event that may happen. Why cant other publishers be like Bethesda and dont stick to a release date until they are certain they can release it on that day....

Oh, and this "rant" applies to all companies, all games, and to all consoles.

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
