While I have a huge backlog, new games do build hype for me and others.
2024 was better than some give it credit for, and 2025 has been s snoozefest so far. Xenoblade Chronicles X DE is an eventual purchase for me, but not right away.
I'm counting on Nintendo to deliver the goods with Switch 2 and hopefully other publishers have some good stuff for the second half of the year that are currently unannounced.

….and I bought another Xenoblade game lol. Didn’t play Xenoblade 2 nor 3 for more than 5hr, but maybe X will do the trick.

i played Xenoblade X for about 30min before switching over the Super Paper Mario. Idk these games just aren’t very casual friendly. Within a few minutes of starting, I have like 30 enemies on my screen, a several checkpoint markers to follow. Nothing like BotW/TotK where you simply explore your way through everything, or Mario/Metroid/Kirby/etc. which leads you down an extremely straight-forward guided section… (btw SPM goes crazy. It’s nothing like it’s predecessors, but it’s still an extremely fun game with a charming story.)

30 min won't even get you to NLA. Xenoblade X world design is what made BOTW what it is. Xenoblade like many JRPGs takes a few hours to teach you everything then lets you go. Once you are let go you can explore the world all you want..at least the lower part. Later in the game, you get mechs which let you explore the vertical part of the open world. Xenoblade X is the least friendly to people not familiar with RPGs. It's caked in systems and subsystems—my only issue with X and the same as the original release. The menus are garbage. A lot of stuff is hidden in a menu hidden in another menu. Still a phenomenal game and series.

Weekly update

Been playing Dragon Ball Z Kakarot on Switch this whole week. Made it to the Freiza Saga, surprised how long it took me to get through the intermission with its side quests.

Smash Ultimate still on the back burner.

Nintendo Switch 2 launching in June according to GDC insiders. Can’t say I’m too surprised. Also, rumbling (unrelated to GDC) suggest there will be a Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase shadow-dropped this Thursday. Interesting move by Nintendo, if true…

Indeed, but it feels like saying goodbye to the Switch 1.

I hope its not just a partner showcase (in terms of hoping there's some first party titles).

Will pre-order Switch 2 - June release is perfect for me since its Summer (prefer summer releases over winter)

Might be an unpopular opinion but am really liking Battlefront collection on the switch so far.

BiON!@

So yeah ... Appart from VGC hibernation the last month (because I actually gamed for once instead of keeping watch on forums for Switch successor news lol), it seems we're about to get two full fledged Directs in the space of a week from the Big N.

Like how do they keep coming with crazy surprises like that ?
The Switch just keeps on going and be crazier by the day 😂

Also Xenoblade Chronicles X DE is DA shit !
It's been a looking time since I had a 15+ hours sessions glued to a single game. It feels almost like it's a first time exploring it again.

Having everything to be more redeable and much more snappier is just a god send honestly.

Cant wait to see what gets announced.

Zelda TP/WW and the Fire Emblem remake/port - either one getting announced will make my day.
