Eagerly awaiting Rols response.

Rol shouldn't waste his time with undeserving threads such as this.

But why

Nintendo needs to show a positive move in the market. Any decrease in numbers will not be viewed upon as a good thing.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Holy doomed Kismishima!

Will Nintendo sell enough Switches to satisfy forum posters?

Can Mario still save the day?

Can anything save our heroes now or are they Ninten-dooomed?

Stay tuned next week same Nintendo time on the same Nintendo channel!

DO DO DO DO !

nananana NINTENDO! nananananana NINTENDO!

But they are already showing very positive move on market, Switch sales are compared to Wii U sales, not to 3DS sales. Even if we know that Switch is hybrid, Nintendo said that Switch is on 1st place home console and replacement for Wii U, Switch even have price point of hardware games like home console not like handheld.

Under that logic every platform holder has failed.

Jesus christ what's wrong with this site...after every damn positive Nintendo news there are days or weeks with another doomed thread by people who apparently know better then anyone in the gaming world...

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

PS4  + Vita < PS2 + PSP

PS4 is failure.

Again I think optics is important, that would appear as a 10 million Nintendo user base decline.

That is debatable. If their userbase goes down by 10m but their software sale goes up 50% (random number), they still get more profits. And with their two big markets fused, they are going to sell way more games than with two different consoles.

This is a good point, the question will be if the install base limits software sales. Especially since it's mostly Nintendo's own software that sells on their systems.

You can only compare it to handheld sales once the switch is sold without the dock.

The missing dock will not bring down the price much. Attaching the controllers permanently to the console might be a cheaper mobile only option. We'll see.

Anything less than 80 million in hardware sales in 5 years will show a diminishing interest in the "Nintendo Brand" and unfortunately create another hurdle that will need to be cleared.  They are off to an excellent start, 4 years and 10 months to go.

You are right. If it doesn't at least do 80 million, it will be a failure just like PS4 and Xbox One. Both of them have failed to beat the previous generation sales and seem  highly unlikely to do so.

PS2: 155+ million
PS3+PSP: 166+ million
PS4+Vita: 75.5 million

360: 84+ million
One: 29.2 million

PS4 and/or Vita need another 85 million (give or take) to avoid failure. Xbox One needs at least another 55 million. Anything less than that in hardware sales will show a diminishing interest in both Sony and Microsoft brands accordingly.

Consoles are clearly dying.
