Then...shouldn't Batman be smart enough to realize something's up if he isn't instantly destroyed by a far, far, far superior opponent? Plus, don't you think with all the knowledge Superman gained from the fortress of solitude, and that he's already aware that being subjected to Krypton's environment has a detrimental effect on his powers, he could surmise that fragments of his homeworld could also cause such effects? And yes, I'm used to glaring plots holes, but man, that's a huge huge one. Plus, Superman's got ridiculous hearing. Don't you think he'll be able to hear Bruce Wayne and Batman and be like...yeah, same person. Hey world, I know something you don't know. lol. |
1. Batman isn't trying to kill Superman because Superman is trying to kill him. so Supermans motives would have little to no effect on Batmans actions.
2. Kryptonite isn't in MOS at all, so up to that point, he is unaware any part of krypton is on earth at all.
3. I don't thin I've ever seen a story-arch where Superman doesn't know who Batman is almost right away, he has x-ray vision. We don't know if he know's who he is in the new movie, but I will be very surprised if it takes Superman very long to figure it out.
Oh, and idk how big of a plot hole it is... I can think of several just from Guardians of the Galaxy that are worse.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.

It's actually probably an issue of lack of empathy. To put it simply, you grow up with characters, and plots written out, and when tech finally catches up to be able to produce said characters and plots on-screen (that you've waited years, upon years to see), they go off-script to avoid paying royalties. Not saying you have to care, but it should be abundantly clear that 'fanboys' have grown up immersed in the genre, and the story. Many of them know every in and out of these characters, and to see it butchered, just to avoid royalties does tend to piss people off. And whether you want to give them credit or not, without those 'fanboys', these comics would never have made it to the big screen. |
oh I've done my research and I think these 'fanboys' over fucking reacted...

1. Did you mean to say he's nto trying to kill him, because Superman's not trying to kill him? Otherwise the sentence is a head scratcher :D
2. No, Kryptonite isn't, however, Superman does lose his powers when subjected to Krypton's atmosphere (in Zod's ship). Superman's not an idiot, plus he had at least some time absorbing knowledge from his father. So, is it unreasonable to suggest that Superman wouldn't be wary of all things Krypton?
3. Exactly, end the fight before it begins, let everyone know who Batman is...he'll be too busy dealing with his enemies and the press to pursue Superman.

Never said you didn't do your research. Personally I'm not aware of the Joker having any Tattoo's, but, I've never really read any of the comics (So, in this particular case, I'm fairly ignorant). And my comment wasn't regarding whether they overreacted, it was in response to 'I will never understand 'fanboys' and their feelings.' I just laid it out for you, pretty clearly. People grow up dreaming of seeing this stuff on the screen, and when the lore and mythos of the series is butchered, it's like a betrayal. For me, mine was LoTR/Hobbit, but they actually followed the story (for the most part), as opposed to current Superhero movies where it's very, very unlikely any current plot will resemble any previously laid out plot.
So, I've never personally had a reason to flip my shit over anything...movie related (Don't get me started about the 'Seeker of Truth' TV series), actually wait, that's unfair, the end of Hannibal, that was a load of horseshit when compared to the book. That pissed me off quite a bit. And I knew the Xmen was wrong, but having only watched the cartoons and never read the comics in any meaningful frequency, the original plots were a mystery to me (though I have a friend who knows tons about them).
One of the best trailers I've seen in recent memory.

1. Sorry, let me fix that. What I meant to say was that Batmans motives for trying to kill Superman don't include Superman trying to kill Batman. Batman wants to kill Superman regardless.
2. As I said, he is totally unaware that kryptonite exsists and is on earth at the end of MOS and likely won't be made aware of it until it is used agianst him or until just before it's used against him.
3. Which would could lead to Batman, or the people he is trying to protect with his secret identity, being harmed or killed, which isn't Supermans goal. He also doesn't want Batman to expose him as Clark Kent, since assuming the new movie is anything like pretty much any other Batman-Superman encounter, it should take Batman all of five minutes to figure out who Superman is.

1. Then Superman's reactions should be commensurate to Batman's, ala Zod/Superman. Except Superman would just have to flick him across the room.
2. It doesn't matter if he's aware that Kryptonite exists, it matters that he knows that there is a connection between his powers and Krypton. It's as much of a guess to assume he doesn't know anything about Kryptonite, as it is to assume he does. It'd also be interesting to know where Krypton was, and if it's even possible for fragments of Kryptons explosion to even reach Earth w/in Superman's lifetime (Krypton is 27.1 light years from Earth, the exact position is: J2000 Right Ascension: 12 hours 10 minutes 5.77 seconds Declination: -15 degrees 4 minutes 17.9 seconds Proper Motion: 0.76 arcseconds per year, along 172.94 degrees from due north). We also know that it took Superman 2-3 years to travel to Earth, from Krypton (which means his vessel had to travel faster than light). A single light year is roughly 6 trillion miles (9.5 trillion Km), so Krypton would be roughly 162.6 trillion miles. Exactly how fast are these shards traveling to make it to Earth w/in Superman's lifetime? Hell, I question whether they'd make it within humanities lifetime.
3. Yeah, but in that regard, Batman's a bad guy. Superman's dealings with bad people versus good people are quite different. And it's not like Superman would know nothing about Batman. He'd know about the tools and the gadgets, and a smart tactician would expect a scientific slant. So, don't let him get anywhere near you, and incapacitate from a distance. And if Superman does know who Batman is, getting rid of Wayne manor, and Wayne Tower, and thusly, Wayne's toybox, wouldn't take much effort.
Btw, as ridiculous as this discussion is, it's pretty fun :D
I'm not sold on Ben as Bat-Man but the trailers looks ok. I'm more interested in suicide squad which looks good

Hmm. I wonder if Batman and Superman are going to fight in this movie.
bet: lost
