Superman had no lines in this trailer. How did the Man of Steel sequel turn into a glorified Batman movie?

I noticed that as well.  I'm hoping its split 50/50 come the movie.

But heck, Superman barely talked in any of the Man of Steel trailors.

But really hoping they keep it 50/50 and don't go the whole Avengers route and have Iron Man in like 90% of the scenes.  Or in this case Batman.  Now seeing as Superman has a solo movie already, i can see it being closer to 60/40, but still.

It's a trailer, so don't read to much into it. Just probably pleasing the batman fanclub as its so huge and showing him.  remember Zack Snyder is a huge Superman fan.  I'm sure he will do him justice.

Also keep in mind the fact that they need to sell Ben Afleck as Wayne/Batman more than they need to sell Cavill as Superman. I think that's mostly what this trailer was trying o achieve. And so far, the reception has been positive.

I like Batman, I liked the Burton and Nolan Batman films (not so much Schumacher) so honestly I wasn't waiting anxiously to see another one.  I would probably be more excited if a stand alone Batman with Affleck was great, but right now no idea how he'll be.

The main issue is I was not crazy about Man of Steel in regards to its interpretation of DCs world and Superman.  Added to that this feels like too much too quickly throwing in other heroes such as Wonder Woman and Aquaman before we know much about them.  With all these heroes who is the villain? Do they just fight each other, because that doesn't really appeal to me.

I will see it simply because I enjoy comics and the characters, just not crazy about the direction I am seeing.

Oh no, multiple characters in a movie... like X-Men or Guardians of the Galaxy or Civil War. Sorry but you sound like a Marvel fanboy.

Really? We're going straight to insults because I have concerns?  I own as many DC as I do Marvel Comics (hard to keep count at this point). I love both universes for different reasons and many characters within them.  I consider The Dark Knight the greatest comic book film made, mean while I haven't loved any of the five Spider-man films made despite loving the character.

You'll have to take my word, but I want both companies to succeed. It's been great past decade seeing dozens of super hero films after getting next to nothing as a kid. I am not going to pretend to enjoy Fantastic Four or Ghost Rider or Green Lantern when I don't.

Now, your point about multiple characters.  I like X-Men (well, not Last Stand...) but it still had issues with characters lost in the shuffle. Cyclops, Colosuss, and Nightcrawler were great characters that got pushed to the back for Wolverine.  I don't want that to happen to Wonder Woman, she is too iconic to play second fiddle to anyone, even Batman and Superman.  Guardians got away with it because none of those characters are strong enough to be in a stand alone like a Justice League or Avenger calibur hero is.  Suicide Squad is roughly DCs equivalent and why I don't have an issue with Killer Croc or Slipknot getting little screen time. Civil War has two main characters who have been in combined seven films at this point. We know them so it will be similar to Avengers feel.

I think Marvel did figure it out with the stand alone films to build to Avengers and thought Justice League should take a similar path. We'll see how it goes and I wish them all the best.

So everyone who's not as excited as you (and you only mentioned concepts nothing about the direction or why you're excited apart from basic ideas) is a Marvel fanboy.  This is why we can't have nice discussions.  Generalizations and painting people as extremists and fanboys gets more rampant every day.  I even said to someone all these things I loved about the trailer then I criticized Eisenberg and they said I was a Marvel fanboy.  It's like all the positives I had been saying flew out the window as soon as one negative crept in.  Apparently you have to think every DC movie is absolutely perfect before ever seeing it in order to not be a Marvel fanboy.

it's been mixed.  Of course everyone has watched it.  Poo has been flung from both sides.  It will have an opening weekend for the ages based on the title alone just like Star Wars and Avengers.  What remains to be seen is the actual quality of the film.  I liked the more human moments but as with any Snyder film I'm concerned it could get caught up in the effects and forget that side.  Also Eisenberg.  I like the weathered Batman setup and the fact that Gotham is basically the slum of Metropolis now.  I also like Cavil as Supes and hope they really show the conflict within him and within Bruce as he must eventually realize his error in judgement (I'm guessing Lex tricks Superman into joining that Superman team we see and he realizes only too late that he's not doing good but just Lex's bidding but not before Batman takes him on).

All of that was actually reassuring.  Thank you, to both of you!

That was out of line so apologies.

Back on topic, I think Marvel's way of doing a standalone movie is the reason why people keep asking "where was x when this was happening" and is why Marvel's world feels poorly built. You can't have crises happening with only 1 superhero showing up.

In addition to that, Avengers members like Black Widow, Hawkeye, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Falcon and War Machine didn't get standalone movies so, what's with the inconsistency? Spider-Man and Black Panther will be in Cap America 3 as well.

The way DC is doing BvS is the right way. Have superheroes be involved in each other's conflicts.

No worries.

Really? If so they are not familiar with comics because solo series and team series are big part of comics.  Asking why Superman doesn't show up every time to help Batman just doesn't come up much in comics.  I mean Robin died at the hands of the Joker in "A Death in the Family" and I don't remember anyone saying "Should've had Superman save him".  I feel the same way about video games and cartoons as well.  Arkham games are great staying with Batman and crew, I don't need the Flash coming in to help.

The reason every film shouldn't be a big epic team up is those solo films allow for character development so we just get the pay off of event films like Avengers. On its own in a vaccuum Avengers would have been a fun, but pretty shallow film. It had the solo films to do heavy lifting so didn't need to ask who these people were. Have to keep in mind while you and I may know immediately the story of Wonder Woman or Green Lantern to many people this will be their introudction to them. Know that was the case for Iron Man and Thor.

Secondary characters don't get stand alone films because they are not the stars.  I will say in Avengers 2 Hawkeye and Vision got more development than Thor or Captain America for example.  The big exception in MCU is Spider-Man, but we know the legal issues as to why he will be introduced in Civil War before getting solo film.  If in the Justice League or solo films a Nightwing, or Black Canary, or Captain Marvel (or Shazam I guess he is now known as) show up then fine with that as they aren't the A-Team.

A-Team
1. Superman 2. Batman 3. Wonder Woman 4. Flash 5. Green Lantern 6. Aquaman

These characters all deserve a stand alone film, they are iconic and pillars of the Justice League for decades.  Everyone else is a bonus (a huge bonus for a comic fan like me!) and can tag along as seconary characters.

We will see. Again, I want this to be good and enjoy it.  Man of Steel left me cautious about their direction with the DC Universe.  I hope BvS gives a great story and allows me to see a great Wonder Woman, Flash, Aquaman, and Green Lantern film as well.  I would love to see them all built up and then massive fight against a Darkseid in a Justice League film.
