what the fuck...

i swear that just last week i was seeing the usual nintendo is amazing, wii u has the best games, no other console can compete... blah blah blah

and now all it takes is the delay of one game, one game to inspire a damn lynch mob against nintendo? seriously?

Yes, it looks like it. Maybe the delay of zelda was the straw that broke the camel's back. I've seen I don't know how many threads like this already.

The Wii U was doomed well before any mention of a new console.

Ok thats nice

It will have 4-5 years of solid support.

Naturally, anyone who didn't buy one in the first year, much less anyone who bought one in 2014-2015 would like to see a longer period of primary support for the platform, but none of Nintendo's major franchises will have been skipped over this generation.

Considering these games and franchises are the primary reason for buying any Nintendo platform, I'm not sure if there is any complaint to be had. Because it's not getting two Zeldas, two Metroids, two Smash Bros and two Mario Karts supporters/buyers are getting short changed?

About the only thing missing from the Wii U has been the same level of third party support as seen on the XBO and PS4 and that's strictly a commercial call by those developers given the smaller user base that heavily prioritizes Nintendo games when it comes to software sales.

The early talk about the Wii U replacement is primarily a financial call. It shows that Nintendo has future plans to adapt to a market that has given its current console a luke warm reception. Rather than attempt to deny any of this, the appropriate response is to focus on the future. If nothing else, it shows investors that Nintendo has a plan for the future while giving fans of the brand something to look forward to given that the number of fans who believe the Wii U is such a success that it merits 10 years of support is an extreme minority.

I agree with you. Price is king. Nintendo have been perceived to be overcharging since the machine came out. The problem they've got is that the pad is so much of the unit price that there's very little they can do to reduce in a meaningful way without taking a huge hit.

I still think they should change their strategy, remove the game pad and replace it with a much cheaper Wiimote/Nunchuck (or even the pro controller) and start selling the pad as an accessory with games like Nintendoland and the games that best utilise the pad bundled in to add value for whatever the pad itself costs to manufacture + a bit of margin.

But then your dissapointment is coming because you are not going to see a huge boost in sales for WiiU this year? Is a matter of sales? Are you really not hyped for any WiiU game this year. Because I know you are. THe delay of Zelda only hurts the sales, but they are all the bad that they can be so doesn´t matter anymore. IMO.

Not just sales; it's also about the console getting one of its most important games sooner rather than later or not at all. I'm still very much hyped for Xenoblade, Yoshi, and Splatoon, but I need more than just a few key releases per year.

Mario Maker, Xenoblade, Splatoon, Yoshi, Mario Party, Devil's Third, Starfox = Only a few key releases.

Mario Maker, Xenoblade, Splatoon, Yoshi, Mario Party, Devil's Third, Starfox + Zelda = Good amount of key releases per year, Wii U has games coming, blah blah blah.

More negativity! Must be a normal day on VGChartz.

I bought my Wii U because of Monster Hunter, and I'm not disappointed at my purchase AT ALL. I've gotten a chance to play some other great games as well, and a way to LEGALLY play Golden Sun GBA, Fire Emblem GBA, and F-Zero GBA. Backwards compatibility, amazing internet browser, off-tv gameplay... Bitch I'm happy.

I have little interest in Wii U.
Tremendous interest and confidence in the NX.

Nintendo has wrapped their handheld division into their home console team. Next generation there will just be one platform, no independent handheld platform. They are teaming up with other companies, De.N.A. is going to specialize in putting together a wide reaching network that ties directly into Nintendo's upcoming platform. Already the NX is looking more interesting than Wii U ever did. PS4 is selling well, but that is only because Nintendo fucked up with the Wii U by making it tremendously underpowered and uninteresting. PS4 is just PS3+, it's an improved PS3, it is not taking things to the next level. Of all the companies, Nintendo is going to be the one to actually take consoles to the next level.

The Wii U's failure is only part of the reason PS4 is winning so hard. The biggest reason is because Microsoft started this generation by shooting their leg off.

This reflects my feelings as well. Nintendo *could* get competitive in the third party sector, but it would require an immense amount of effort and money, to the point where they're better off doing something else good for gamers with that money.

Some third party support comes, grudgingly, when Nintendo systems sell well. That's the kind of support they should be looking for: "we're selling so well third parties have to come to us or risk pissing off their investors."

I honestly wish that Microsoft and Sony wouldn't pay for third party content, either. That's why we have prima donna asshole third parties like EA and Ubisoft. They've learned they can threaten and get their way.

I have sold my wii u before months. My opinion: A handful of games a year is not enough.

The next nintendo console can maybe play WiiU-games, i think.
That would be cool.

In order to get the full Nintendo experience, u have always needed to own both their handheld and console, which based on price was pretty realistic in previous generations but much harder to expect now.

Back in 1998, Nintendo 64 cost $129.99 and Gameboy Color cost $69.99 for a total of about $200.

Back in 2003, Gamecube cost $99.99 and Gameboy Advance SP cost $99.99 for a total of about $200.

Currently, Wii U costs $299.99 and New 3DS XL costs $199.99 for a total of about $500. Even when adjusted for inflation it's still close to twice as much to own both Nintendo platforms now than it did in the 5th/6th gen.

This is a huge reason why Nintendo needs to go ahead and just unify their platforms. Still make two seperate pieces of hardware but make it so they have the same architecture, operation system, online infrastructure and share a library.

NX Portable-$199.99, between Xbox 360 & Wii U in terms of specs that can handle Wii U level visuals/ports on a single 5" screen at 540p.

NX Console-$199.99, between Wii U & Xbox One in terms of specs that plays the same games at 1080p with some extra graphical effects.

Now u only truly need one device to get the full Nintendo experience but their can still be some incentives to own both. Perhaps someone prefers playing games like Pokemon or Animal Crossing on the go and prefers playing games like Zelda or Xenoblade on their TV at home, these people may buy both. Also the handheld can have the same features of the Wii U gamepad when linked to the console, things like inventory/map or asymmetrical gameplay. Maybe some other minor extras for people who own both, kinda like how Amiibo adds things to games but u still feel like u get the full experience even without them. Just some ideas on how Nintendo can still try getting people to own both pieces of hardware despite sharing the same library.

Probably because they care about not losing a ton of money...
