Face it, Metal Gear belongs on the PC.

It just somehow became PS exclusive for no reason in the middle of the series.

Not Metal Gear Solid.
Metal Gear Solid debuted on PlayStation and was later ported to PC. Same with Metal Gear Solid 2.
Metal Gear Solid 3 and 4 were exclusive games to PS2 and PS3.

That's actually the first time a main Metal Gear Solid game might not be exclusive to PlayStation at launch.
Metal Gear Solid series is undoubtly linked to PlayStation way more than anything else.

MGS was released on Gamecube under MGS: Twin snakes. I think MGS2:Substance was later released on Xbox and MGS3 released later on 3DS. MGS1/2/3 all released on 360/PS3 as a HD collection. The only true exclusive was MGS4 but all the games, beside the first 2 metal gears, appeared on a Sony platform first.

I will buy it, God willing...

My grammar errors are justified by the fact that I am a brazilian living in Brazil. I am also very stupid.

I'm an xbox gamer that didn't buy MGS:GZ because I felt it was a cheap cash grap, but I'm seriously interested in MGSV. The game looks phenomenal.

Wait.... some people really think MS paid for a game that they know won't sell that well on Xbox? Yeah that makes sense

Really? Do people really buy a game (that they were not going to buy originally) just because it is exclusive?

Absolutely.

Exclusivity had potential to bring status, status has potential to generate hype, hype has potential to reach more people.

It can both make someone want to have it because of its status and make more people aware of its existente by being more hyped.

People tend to want what other people also want. If someone doesn't know or want something but see a group that want it, it can actually start to generate a feeling of curiosity or integration and make he want it. One move alone but also tend to go where the most people are going.

The question is what numbers would justify it being exclusive generated actually more sales than it being multiplatform.

Really low numbers in one system are an indicator it might be a good move.

Hmm, that's an interesting theory. But it is really hard to back it up with numbers. Like, for example, if you look at the top 5s on the PS4, PS3, X360 and X1, you'll see that all of them are Multi-platforms.

Even more so, the alledged power of exclusivity was not enough to help great games like: Uncharted, MGS4, The Last of Us, God of War etc, to enter (not even) the top 10 on the PS3.

And about those numbers being really low on the X1...  well, I'm actually surprised it did that well on the PS. So I dont think those are really low numbers if we take into consideration the price and the content we were getting for it.

The only thing that does not make sense is how the hell MGS V is even possible on 360 after all that nonsense about MGS IV only being possible on PS3?

MGS4 was exclusive because a bluray disc was the only thing that could hold that enormous game.

Anybody remember these jokes? Becuase they were no exageration.

All this shows is that Sony doesn't need to waste it's money making a exclusivity deal for this game, or other games like FFXV and KH3, most people will buy a PS4 to play them anyway.

MGS4 could fit on DVDs if the audio was compressed -- the PS3 version used uncompressed audio which is why it takes up so much space.  The trouble with porting it is that it was so heavily designed around PS3's architecture, where as Ground Zeroes and Phantom Pain are built on much more of a PC-like (and easily portable) setup.
