Fast Racing Neo is as close as we get. Not sure how that game is coming along though.

FRN is becoming Shin'en's Last Guardian, haha. It was supposed to be released last year, now it doesn't have any release window at all.

Last we heard was in an article dated 3rd December, where they said "We're in a good way though, we have something running and the gameplay is fine, so we just need to add content."

Hmm. It seems like HD development is tough on such a small team. Hope it turns out well.

Nintendo's being talking it up about allowing third parties to work on their franchises, I think this is a perfect opportunity. After all it worked out ok last time.

It worked out great in terms of producing a stellar game, but not so well financially; F Zero GX only shifted 650k copies.

If Nintendo is going to support a console without third parties they have to be willing to take some small risks on franchises that may not see huge sales if for no other reason than diversifying their library. They already have an engine they could use, which would surely lend itself to developing the game on a relatively smaller budget.

Even for Nintendo, not all their games need to sell to 20-30% of the user base.

I actually agree, I was just pointing out that a game like GX would be a calculated risk, as it likely wouldn't make much dough in software sales. It's value would be in changing the console's image and drawing in new consumers.

I actually don't care about any of that, my motivations are purely selfish. I could be happy even if they only sold one copy......as long as it's to me :p

Yeah, me too. It's actually one of my most anticipated games, as we've gone so long without an F Zero and this feels like the closest we'll get to a current gen one.

There are some scifi racers, but FAST Racing Neo is the most promising right now, not only for Wii U.

you know somethings i dont get why they dont try to milk these old franshises as they do with pokemon, aside from the fact that pokemon is actually many times more profitable

Starfox's controls worry me deeply. It sounds like he's just used the franchise for window dressing to sell Nintendoland 2.

You overreacting way too much. Just because they had that F-Zero minigame does not mean Star Fox, or F-Zero, will be downgraded to that level.

Miyamoto's comments on Starfox very much sound like he's just shoehorning awkward Gamepad controls just to try to justify the controller. Novelty for the sake of novelty.

And chances are they will be optional. Nearly every Wii U game can support the Pro Controller or Wii Mote.

I guess Miyamoto is having trouble showing off Captain Falcon and co.'s new moves for their next entry.

I'm (partially) with Miyamotoo!
There's something fishy about what he said.
What more control interfaces does he need that he doesn't have already? A tablet? A VR device?

First he didn't know what he could do with the game, now he says that he needs a new type of controller interface - not the same as control layout!

My guesses are tablet, VR device and new console!
And most likely the game is already in development.
