Nintendo's being talking it up about allowing third parties to work on their franchises, I think this is a perfect opportunity. After all it worked out ok last time.

It worked out great in terms of producing a stellar game, but not so well financially; F Zero GX only shifted 650k copies.

If Nintendo is going to support a console without third parties they have to be willing to take some small risks on franchises that may not see huge sales if for no other reason than diversifying their library. They already have an engine they could use, which would surely lend itself to developing the game on a relatively smaller budget.

Even for Nintendo, not all their games need to sell to 20-30% of the user base.

I actually agree, I was just pointing out that a game like GX would be a calculated risk, as it likely wouldn't make much dough in software sales. It's value would be in changing the console's image and drawing in new consumers.

I actually don't care about any of that, my motivations are purely selfish. I could be happy even if they only sold one copy......as long as it's to me :p
