Forums - Nintendo - Why is Earthbound good ?

Thanks for all the replies. I purchased it and played it for an hour. The writing is well done, especially with random charcters. Reminds me of Pokemon a bit. The hameplay is boring, but i only have 1 chaacter so i hope it will get better.

It takes a while to get to Paula, through the first big dungeon, down the road to Twoson and the ludicrously-named Peaceful Rest Valley.

Watch out for the trees. I'm warning you now.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Zelda II is okay. Except remember this: When you get EXP points. You litterly have to touch it to count. If you don't, you get nothing. Main factor why I hate the game. I've died for days in the game. All because I wasn't leveling up. Because I thought like any other game after Zelda II came out. You just gain the exp normally.

Wut? I think you're confusing Zelda II with another game... Never heard of this, all I know is that you lose your current exp if you get a game over.

Nope. Fight any enemey in Zelda and don't hit the xp number with your body or sword. You don't get it. And won't level up.

I'm going to chime in as kekrot did...this simply isn't true.  Their death gets you the XP...but you have to save after.

I've tested this myself. I didn't touch them. I got nothing. I touched them I got it. What is my real NES copy different from the rest?

The game does get more interesting when you find the rest of the gag. Also best function is when the game detects you can defeat a fight in one attack. It doesn't engage the fight. You get a quick won screen. Best invention ever. More games need this.

From what I've seen, Persona 4 is the only game besides Earthbound that uses that function!

Europeans rejoice. Earthbound is on sale right now.

You can get it for 5,99 € instead of 9,99 € until 24.07.

I am downloading it right now. :)

Strange. It's supposed to appear for a second (the exp number) floating upwards, and when it disappears it should be added to your count.

Note that the exp isn't added to you until the number disappears. Have you checked that?

Yep.

Ni No Kuni had something similar. Enemies on the overworld that were much weaker than you would acitvely avoid you (while those similar/stronger would seek you out).

It's definitely something that should be implemented more. The only downside is when there are sidequests involving killing/harvesting x creatures/drops, and they've all started running away from you :S

Earthbound is bad because you can't see your characters in battle. It greatly annoys me. Even in Pokemon, you could see your Pokemon in the battle.

And why is Game & Wario so bad?

Apparently it is, since I have literally never even heard of this before.
