There is a thread on reddit where a guy from the UK did this. He contacted customer support and they didn't help him

To discourage breaking the street date...it doesn't matter how eager a fan is, they shouldn't be able to get the game before it is released. I don't really blame the OP for getting the game early (that is the store's fault) but it was silly to register it early...

Also, try contacting the store if they made any mention of the free game in any of their promotions...you may be able to convince them to give you something...it is worth a shot

That's actually a good point. It practically IS the store's fault. I've sent an email to Nintendo with pictures of my copy and stuff for evidence. I'll let you guys know the outcome. If it is negative, I'll contact the store for this issue ^^.

As a consumer, you don't have to know when a game is out to buy it just because the store is selling it before it should. It's a problem for the store and if Nintendo doesn't give you your game, you should go to the store and demand the game and get a voucher or a physical copy. I'm serious.

Crap I just messed up. I started the download immediately after it came on the uk eshop and straight away registered. Then wondering how to claim I found this:

Register the Club Nintendo PIN code for Mario Kart 8 in www.club-nintendo.com between 10:00 (UK time) on May 30th 2014 and 23:59 (UK time) on July 31st 2014.

Because I didn't wait till 10:00 I missed out on nsmbu :(

It says nothing about waiting till 10:00 on any of the ads for it.

I did not buy the game or register it early-  iwas just asking about the reason for denying the early claim-  seems like they should hold the stores accountable for breaking the st date not an eager fan/consumer IMO

It's okay. I messed up, too. Apparently you have to link your Wii U to your Club Nintendo account before the purchase for digital orders to count. No Pikmin for me.
