Forums - Sony - Gran Turismo 5 removing all DLC ahead of shutting down the game's online service

said the games I do really want to play online I have done so when they were at their most relevent and I dont think after 3 years of not buying GT5 and not buying its dlc you are the keenest of fans who would care about this removal after all this time

Well a problem with this is the GT5 academy edition which was released end 2012.. You can still get it at retail and is a cheap option to get into gt5 if you were late to the ps3 party, but it has DLC codes with it to get those 30 extra cars and 3 tracks..

They'll probably let those copies sell out and never produce new GT5 copies again..

Id like to thank the people harping for things like digital downloads and DLC. Good job guys.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

Dear Sony,

I still won't buy GT6.

Are they taking away the patches for GT5 too?  If so that's messed up.

wondering this too because I have GT5 installed and patched to date on my ps3 atm but it takes up about 10gb of space in patches alone I would love to be able to delete these at a point and know I could get the game back to its fully up to date self again down the line.

I think I deleted mine already. I'm down to 55gb on my 1TB HDD.

I am the Playstation Avenger.

people here seem to be thinking this is all just to get people to move on to playing GT6... think about the bigger picture guys, They're shutting down the servers to MAG, GT5 and there was some other shooter too, they aren't trying to get people to buy a copy of GT6, this move is to get people to move to a PS4 and to pay for online play with psn+

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

This probably shows, atleast some people, that the main driving force for Sony is cash, just as it is for MS. They could have done it in a better way though, why remove the DLC is beyond me.

Completely agree. Sony knew they couldn't start charging for ps3 online play so they are going to do the next best thing. Removing the ability to play online from everything with dedicated servers. Sony needs to start letting people buy and use their own servers like EA does with battlefield if they will be dropping official servers so quickly... The fact they are doing this with their best selling exclusive barely more than 3 years after it came out shows nothing is safe.

I am one of the biggest Sony fans and this move is totally ridiculous and NOT what I expected from Sony who has been excellent at showing support for most of their titles.

Do some more of this, and I will never buy a product from Sony again, even though this will mean that I will quit gaming.

It doesn't make sense, it's host based peer to peer racing anyway. (Or their dedicated servers are the worst I've ever seen) How much does it cost to keep a lobby server running. It's probably the same lobby servers as for GT6.

I bought GT6 so DLC is not an issue since it's all included in GT6. But some features are missing like F1 racing.
