Well lets put some context. Most games have a dead population after three years.

Many multiplayer games has 1000s of people still playing years after release(Even after a new game in the franchise is released). No they may not top the charts like a brand new Call of Duty but those 1000s of people playing gets screwed when something like this happens so i stand behind what i said 100%.

I'm actually worried with the gt6 sales and the rise of the ps4 that they'll shut down gt6 online in 2016..

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

It's because of the stupid way they set up the DLC infrastructure. When you buy it from PSN, you have to install it in-game while you're online. So, now that they're shutting down the servers, people won't be able to install DLC when the servers are gone. It's ridiculous that they seem to want to one up Turn 10 in anti-consumerism.

Not as bad as WKC2. Servers had a couple thousand people online everyday and the servers were shut down less than two years.

Sony announced they were shutting down servers from WKC1 because most everyone was on WKC2, but D3 Publisher, the ones who published WKC2, announced they were going to close servers the same time WKC1 closed.

Either way you look at it, it's bad for Sony, but D3 Publisher is worse.

Yeah, that pretty much killed my incentive to finish WKC. Half the game is basically gone.

I wouldn't say many games have thousands of players years after their release. But GT5 is definitely a game that was still active and selling.

I shouldve probably noted that i mean games that are popular.  Whether it be Gears, GT, Minecraft, etc  These games were popular and people stick around for years.

Wow.
I never got GT5, but now I can't even have a complete game content-wise. I don't give a damn about online functionality, but not being able to get DLC'd content, REALLY? I have all GT games up to 5 and 6 (which I decided to get to later, because of focus shifting elsewhere), and GT1+2 I bought purely for collection purposes... now I can't even have a complete GT5.

Fuck you, Sony.

Small anecdote: I turned on Transformers: War for Cybertron the other day expecting the servers to be down. They were still up with 162 people playing online. 162! GT5 has thousands, so wtf PD!?

Sony needs moneyz. They need to sell off the servers to Nintendo.
