Forums - Gaming - This hurts to say, but I think that mobile does shooters better than consoles.

I think it bears mentioning that I'm not saying that cellphones are more comfortable controllers than console controllers. They are still very uncomfortable, but the touch screen affords far more precision than an analog stick. Fact.

...

and by fact you mean opinion and by opinion you mean unpopular opinion that absolutely no one agrees with.

glad we could find some common ground here...

It's as "factual" as saying that mouse is more precise than Analog. It's an opinion, but let's be real here. It's a fact, technicalities aside.

keyboard/mouse is certainly more precise than analog.

the mobile shooters you provided as examples are using the same input mechanisms as an analog controller with one slight difference,. the lack of a physical feedback mechanism means the user cannot find "center" as well and therefore is susceptible to drift which in turns makes the controls less precise.   that's why all the reviews i read (i read more than the two i sourced in my first post) list controls a one of the biggest negatives about the games.  that's why no one in this thread is agreeing with you.  that is why your facts are, in fact, not factual.

i've played shooters on a mobile device.  not the ones you've listed but still.  the controls are adequate for play but by no means impressive.

I kind of see it if you are using a pen to aim, and i agree because is there is no momentum like on a analog. But one thing that is really a downer to me is how can you use your finger on it. Every single smartphone or tablet i ever use don't make easy to glip you finger across the screen, so it's useless, because there is no that much capacitive pens out there.

This is just like metroid prime stylus control. At first i tried and hated, because i got lost. Then i tried later again and find the precise rigth way to grip the device with the aid of the strap to perfect hold the device with one hand, while the another was using the stylus. And then i trhow my mouse away :P But really, the stylus and the stripe are fundamental to hold the device firmily like a mousepad,a thing that the portable device don't have. But, portable device are used on train, where the is no stability, so i see why can hate it in favor of dual analogs.

About the responses, most don't read after the title, so you should change it.

"Hardware design isn’t about making the most powerful thing you can.
Today most hardware design is left to other companies, but when you make hardware without taking into account the needs of the eventual software developers, you end up with bloated hardware full of pointless excess. From the outset one must consider design from both a hardware and software perspective."

Your discription alone shows me that you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, rendering all your other points irrelevant. If you seriously think I'm talking about the mode where the touch screen brings up a visual analog stick, then obviously I'd be wrong, because that controls like shit. Obviously. But that's not what I'm talking about at all.

touch controls on FPS were great when Nintendo did it 10 years ago with Metroid Hunters

My thoughts exactly.

Analogue sticks > everything else.

I agree for moving in a 3D-world. I disagree for aiming. Mouse beats analogue sticks at aiming.

Well I'm going to be go against the grain and say that I think analogue sticks are better for that too.

Online console gamers against PC-gamers in an FPS? That is very one-sided, if the console-gamers don't get autoaim as help.

well, having re-read every single post you've made in this thread..

...why don't you trying actually making a point?!  so far the only arguement you've made to support yourself is various wordings of the statement "i'm right".

Console shooter :

Mobile Shooter :

So yeah, mobile > console on this one.

The only thing you have said is I'm right without any merit. M/K are way better then both, then analog, motion is not a very good control scheme for aiming period. It is not precise or akin to fast suddden movements. Mouse dominates both.
