Forums - Gaming - This hurts to say, but I think that mobile does shooters better than consoles.

Anyone trying to say analog is as good as mouse is in denial. Microsoft experiemented with cross play between console/PC with hilarious results. Mouse is incredibly precise and incredibly fast and accurate.

I think it bears mentioning that I'm not saying that cellphones are more comfortable controllers than console controllers. They are still very uncomfortable, but the touch screen affords far more precision than an analog stick. Fact.

...

and by fact you mean opinion and by opinion you mean unpopular opinion that absolutely no one agrees with.

glad we could find some common ground here...

It's as "factual" as saying that mouse is more precise than Analog. It's an opinion, but let's be real here. It's a fact, technicalities aside.

keyboard/mouse is certainly more precise than analog.

the mobile shooters you provided as examples are using the same input mechanisms as an analog controller with one slight difference,. the lack of a physical feedback mechanism means the user cannot find "center" as well and therefore is susceptible to drift which in turns makes the controls less precise.   that's why all the reviews i read (i read more than the two i sourced in my first post) list controls a one of the biggest negatives about the games.  that's why no one in this thread is agreeing with you.  that is why your facts are, in fact, not factual.

i've played shooters on a mobile device.  not the ones you've listed but still.  the controls are adequate for play but by no means impressive.

Your discription alone shows me that you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, rendering all your other points irrelevant. If you seriously think I'm talking about the mode where the touch screen brings up a visual analog stick, then obviously I'd be wrong, because that controls like shit. Obviously. But that's not what I'm talking about at all.

The only thing you have said is I'm right without any merit. M/K are way better then both, then analog, motion is not a very good control scheme for aiming period. It is not precise or akin to fast suddden movements. Mouse dominates both.

No I didn't. I said that the touch screen offers a pesision that analog doesn't. What do you want me to do? Describe technically how? That's like asking how a mouse is more accurate. It just is. You point and shoot. It's the same on a touch screen. You glide to center your reticule on the target, and then shoot. Instead of working a grid like with an analog stick, you glide your finger across the screen to aim. It's so easy to understand, that it's embarassing that I'm reduced to explaining it. It's like asking for proof that 2+2=4.

wow no just no.
touch screen controls are incredibly shitty.

The burden of proof is on you with your claims, not me. No one agrees with you because it's hogwash. It is not that technical, a mouse has laser technology that mimics your every hand movement and it vastly faster and precise because of it. Touch tech is simply not up to par with either analog or mouse for precision.

unless the touch screen is as big as a 50" screen, then no it's completely imprecise. Fact.

Fingers are far too big to be precise on such a small level. You would aim at hundreds of pixels all at the same time and hitting someone would just come down to luck.

I think I'd rather play the upcoming Moon remake for 3DS. Stylus control is as good as it'll ever get in terms of touchscreen-based aiming. More so on DS systems, because your field of vision will not be blocked. Is it really comfortable? Hell no. But as far as precision goes, that's about the best which can be done on purely touch-based aiming input.

So yeah, mobile > console on this one.

Can't tell if serious so I'll just go ahead and say that you can find different variants of shooters on consoles and have them done properly whether or not its bird eye, third-person, first-person or RTS, its just better on consoles. Mobile games are worth less than a buck, and plenty are free, enough said.

This^

I don't play mobile games, but I will take the Wii Remote over analog sticks any day when it comes to FPS. I love the IR aiming.

Please, don't reduce quality to price, this sounds as cynical as naive, and that's not a good combo.

I was most likely joking, there are Shmups on console too ^_-

BTW RTS means real time strategy, wich is a subgenre of strategy, while shooter is a subgenre of action.

All I meant was that a Dodonpachi on mobile is better than any console FPS in my opinion, and that shooter means nothing in this thread, you can't compare any shooter to any other shooter.
