Forums - Sales - Splinter Cell: Blacklist sales on Wii U account for less than 2% of total sales

I just got it for 20 bucks on PC... using from an nvidia voucher I bought through ebay though.

Splinter Cell Conviction did 486 K this did 294... Digital Distribution has grown, maybe it isn't a complete bomba and just underperformed?

That said, decent ports need to sell on Nintendo Systems if they're ever going to get better 3rd party support fair or not particularly if it takes extra work.The PS3 had awful ports for a while and they still sold.

I grow up during a time when Nintendo had Castlevania, Metal Gear, Contra, Street Fighter, Shadow Run, etc. I didn't buy it for a second when Sega and Sony were calling Nintendo fans "kiddie". Somewhere during the Nintendo 64 era, the lie became the truth. The toy-like Gamecube (home of some of my favorite games--even more timeless classics than my PS2, after all was said and done) kinda solidified the fact. I thought the Wii was a fluke. It was a great console but the controller and lack of power made it more of a "casual" console. I always believed that, given the right hardware to do the games justice, Nintendo gamers would continue to buy great games, regardless of if they were "mature" or violent.

I'm going to admit that my way of belief was wrong. The demographic has changed. People like me that loved gaming during the heyday of the Nes and Snes just aren't gaming on Nintendo consoles anymore. The gamers that replaced us have a different mentality altogether. Nintendo is STILL my favorite company but I don't think I'll ever be a Nintendo-Only gamer again. I see this same thing happening with Arkham Origins and even my beloved Bayonetta 2. It's hard to except it but the truth is here (not Splinter Cell, per say. Just looking at the gaming over the years). " Mature games" and "mature gamers" are left hanging in the wind.

And people wonder why it rarely recieves third party games

% of WiiU consoles compared to  360 and PS3 and Pc, no offline coop, no HD texture pack, shitty framerate, where I live the WiiU version costs 10bucks more.

There you have your reason.

Plus alot of people have 2 or 3 consoles why would be buy the inferior WiiU version no matter if it has cool gamepad features or not?   sub 20FPS is not playable. I also threw away my Castlevania for 360 becaue it had 14 FPS  rofl....

@bolded  Gamers don't wonder why Nintendo does not get third party games (devs wonder, gamers know)  we know it has to do with being to stupid to make games. e.g run at constant 30 FPS and have actual value.

After the lack of advertisement for the Wii U version (you wouldn't know it even exsisted), the fact some stores aren't stocking it and the fact that the Wii U version has a lower install base as well as missing features...

...Im looking for the "surprised" here.

Because showing Wii U in the last half second of a commercial is going to give people insight on what games are available. And obviously a large majority of gamers are going to know what games have less features, because everyone is like us and looks up video game news regularly.

Nintendo fans rarelyt buy third party unless it's exclusive. No need to throw every excuse in the book out there when this is the only one that fits.

Hmm. Maybe it's different elsewhere but here in the UK the ad does not show the Wii U, only the PS3 and 360 versions. And yes, not everyone may know about these missing features. However, you then say "Nintendo fans", a number of whom probably do follow news like this. Then you have the highest price which puts people off.

I'm not throwing out excuses, because the sales are horrid. They are. But these things, which you call excuses, are actually things which are happening.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

OK, I'll bite.

I'll tell you why I didn't buy the game for Wii U. It's missing local co-op and the loading times are a huge turn off. Plus I usually wait until games like Splinter Cell are sub-$30 to buy anyway.

I don't want to get into the whole third-parties vs. Nintendo debate, but I think Splinter Cell, which was missing features for Wii U, poorly advertised and reviewed (two reviews on Metacritic as I write), and suffering from some technical issues, isn't the best example.

What about games like Sonic & Sega Transformed and Rayman Legends? If studios make multiplatform games on Wii U that perform well, take advantage of the GamePad, and speak to the Wii U audience, then they'll do well in comparison to the PS3, X360, PS4, XOne versions.

I don't get why many Nintendo fans feel the need to justify why they didn't buy a certain game.

lol total sales what a fucking joke.

How about (Number of Units Sold On Wii U / Wii U's sold)

Do that for each console and lets see the attach rate.

Total sales just under 300K (350 ~ 70% sales, Wii U 5k, PS3 85k)

360 = (0.21/78.4)*100 = 0.26%

PS3 = (0.085/79.1)*100  = 0.11%

WIi U = (0.005/3.6)*100 = 0.14%

LOL, I played trough the Wii U version and I didn't have any fps problems at all.

BTT: I love Blacklist. I missed the feeling of the old Splinter Cells. Amazing game. Too bad....

Then think how many active units there are in the PS360 userbase, how many units are replacements, 2nd in the house, for multimedia purposes only, how many more releases are there recently for PS360 so customers have more options with a limited budget, how vastly bigger are the libraries that people can choose games from. There are always so many variables to consider that it's never a fair comparison unless you have all the data, attach rates can also be unfair to compare.

So it is happening...PS4 preorder.

Greatness Awaits!

It doesn't work like that.
