I grow up during a time when Nintendo had Castlevania, Metal Gear, Contra, Street Fighter, Shadow Run, etc. I didn't buy it for a second when Sega and Sony were calling Nintendo fans "kiddie". Somewhere during the Nintendo 64 era, the lie became the truth. The toy-like Gamecube (home of some of my favorite games--even more timeless classics than my PS2, after all was said and done) kinda solidified the fact. I thought the Wii was a fluke. It was a great console but the controller and lack of power made it more of a "casual" console. I always believed that, given the right hardware to do the games justice, Nintendo gamers would continue to buy great games, regardless of if they were "mature" or violent.

I'm going to admit that my way of belief was wrong. The demographic has changed. People like me that loved gaming during the heyday of the Nes and Snes just aren't gaming on Nintendo consoles anymore. The gamers that replaced us have a different mentality altogether. Nintendo is STILL my favorite company but I don't think I'll ever be a Nintendo-Only gamer again. I see this same thing happening with Arkham Origins and even my beloved Bayonetta 2. It's hard to except it but the truth is here (not Splinter Cell, per say. Just looking at the gaming over the years). " Mature games" and "mature gamers" are left hanging in the wind.
