i had a feeling it was going to bomb. batman arkham origins is going to bomb as a well. Just saying how i see it.

Arkham Origins on Wii U was screwed the moment they cut out multiplayer from it. Nobody likes gimped games.

Its under-priced, though. Gamers with a Wii U and a PS3/360 who want Arkham Origins day one and don't care about the multiplayer (there can't be that many people who are really looking forward to the multiplayer, given that the Arkham series made its fame without such), and you find the Wii U version priced $10 less? It should at least stay competitive.

Yep Nintendo fans have allways one or more reasons not to buy 3rd-party games....

Well considering that they are valid reasons there is no reason why people cant complain.

It doesnt matter WHY it sold so poorly, all that matters is that it DID sell so poorly.

Ubisoft have faith in the platform, but that faith has to run thin when the efforts do as bad as that. Assassin's Creed and Watch_Dogs still to come. Lets see if they fair any better.

No, Carl.

Ubisoft had faith at some point, but we are long past that point. All their Wii U games in the second half of 2013 will be about making some money back on projects that were too far into development to abort them. Rayman was delayed for half a year to make it multiplatform, even though the Wii U version was supposedly already finished; this indicates that what little faith was there was already gone at that point. Ubisoft did cut corners on Splinter Cell, making it the worst version of the game. Nobody should expect good things from AC and WD at this point.

And if we are going to talk about faith in the platform, there wasn't much to begin with. Otherwise Wii U versions would have been announced on the same day as the games themselves. Instead the announcements came out of nowhere (at least for SC and WD, not sure about AC).

The bottom line is that the self-fulfilling prophecy is already in progress. If Ubisoft's games bomb this fall, they have all the justification they need to skip the platform in the future. If their games sell for some odd reason, it will already be too late, because there won't be enough free resources to make good Wii U versions for games releasing in 2014 (because those versions that are not planned at the moment). So best case scenario is that Ubisoft will bring some gimped ports next year which simply delays the inevitable. They won't get away with gimped games two years in a row, so flops are guaranteed. This means that whether or not Wii U owners buy AC4 and/or WD won't matter in the slightest, so nobody should feel obligated to buy Ubisoft games for a cause like better third party support in the future.

It's a good thing that those games will flop, because otherwise Wii U owners would get stuck in a feedback loop where publishers think that gimped is good enough for the Wii U, so gimped games will become the norm. For Wii U owners, the entire third party situation is a case of "damned if you do, damned if you don't", same as on Wii. So my advice to everyone is to only buy the games they really want, not because of a false sense of taking one for the team or something. Don't waste your money.

Couldn't agree more with the bolded. If you don't like the game don't buy it. It should be as simple as that.

but I disagree about pretty much everything else. The average Wii U owner doesn't know that the load times are longer on the Wii U version. The average consumer doesn't know which version is the better version. In my opinion it all comes down to the different tastes of the average Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft players. This game could have been the best by far on the Wii U and it would have sold poorly. It would have sold to the well informed forum goers who like this genre or want to "support 3rd party games" but there aren't many of those.

.05% of 360 install base bought the game
.03% of the install base bought it on Wii U
.01% of the install base bought it on PS3 if you give them all the PC sales as well.

Ubisoft isn't bias so they will know Wii U isn't going to push as many copies as system with roughly 30 times the install base in the US. However I am sure they expect 2 systems with a similar number of console sold to sale around the same. That just didn't happen

Those are some horrible sales. But I have to side with Conegamer. I have yet to find a Wii U on any storeshelves.

When I think of it, I've actually never heard about anyone talking about this game. Not sure how long this franchise will continue with the budgets in the next gen.

I'm hoping more people are going to buy AC BF on Wii U though. I loved having AC3 on my gamepad, so it's a must buy for me.

I will be!
As much as I love the Gamepad, AC3 was one of very few games I did not use it for.

I think this game bombed overall so it's not WiiU problem really. You should make a thread why SC:Blacklist bombed epically.

Kind of a self-fulfilling prophecy, really.

That a Wii U version existed wasn't announced until long after the other versions (same thing happened with Ghosts this year,) it wasn't advertised, it wasn't printed in big numbers, and the important thing is: It didn't NEED to sell big numbers.

It's turning a nice little profit selling like it does. And obviously all the Wii U owners who're interested have bought it.

How exactly do you figure it is turning a nice little profit or didn't need to sell big numbers?  VGC has it at only 16.4k in the first two weeks, and even that number is significantly overtracked.  The numbers from Creamsugar put it at less than 4.8k in the US in August, less than half of what VGC has.  Considering it has been wavering between 1% and nothing on the Guardian platform splits, it is likely overtracked in the UK as well.

Do you think the average gamer is an early adopter? I think early adopters are mianly Nintendo fans who are well informed.

The gamepad screen has better colors than my Sony Bravia tv, so I often prefer playing on it.

That is probably due to the way the Wii U hdmi output is a narrower colour band (don't knwo the full correct term for this). PS3 had the same issue when it was first released. They updated it in a firmware release.
