naw they know
I think we (Wii U console owners) are toast as it relates to 3rd party games after this latest round is released. Ubisoft has provided more games for the Wii U than Nintendo yet sales are terrible and the Nintendo fans do nothing but slam Ubisoft- our only supporter of note-
Under the circumstances I can t blame any 3rd party dev for by passing the Wii U- there are many 3rd part games we have and will miss out on that I would like to play- but neither 3rd parties or Nintendo have any confidence in this console-
Maybe it will become a collectors item soon- Naturally Wii U sales will rise when the holiday shopping season starts and some of the bigger Nintendo games come out- but it will not be nearly what most are expecting
I m really bummed out-
One other thing- people complain about "gimped" games being released on the Wii U by 3rd parties- but those
same people are just fine when Nintendo releases virtually all of its games w out online multi player or other major features that pretty standard on other developers games- Maybe those developers think online multiplayer
is not important to Ii U owners since we are used to not having that feature
So tell me- Is Mario 3D land going to be a gimped game when it is released since it will not have online multiplayer?
| RolStoppable said: No, Carl. Ubisoft had faith at some point, but we are long past that point. All their Wii U games in the second half of 2013 will be about making some money back on projects that were too far into development to abort them. Rayman was delayed for half a year to make it multiplatform, even though the Wii U version was supposedly already finished; this indicates that what little faith was there was already gone at that point. Ubisoft did cut corners on Splinter Cell, making it the worst version of the game. Nobody should expect good things from AC and WD at this point. And if we are going to talk about faith in the platform, there wasn't much to begin with. Otherwise Wii U versions would have been announced on the same day as the games themselves. Instead the announcements came out of nowhere (at least for SC and WD, not sure about AC). |
While faith has indeed wilted, I think youre being a tad harsh. Ubisoft have shown more interest and faith in the Wii U than pretty much any other developer outside of Nintendo. Granted, there hasnt been that much competition but they have at least given the platform a chance.
They admittedly pissed on Wii U owners when they moved Rayman and it was a really shitty thing to do, but can you really blame them for losing some of said faith after how things went post-launch?

I did say i hated to do it :/
Though it is indeed better to let that discussion lie, as clearly no-one has anything new to say on the matter. Viewpoints have calcified and only hate is left to be spread, rather than fruitful discussion.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

LOL, I played trough the Wii U version and I didn't have any fps problems at all. BTT: I love Blacklist. I missed the feeling of the old Splinter Cells. Amazing game. Too bad.... |
Well then you (if you are a fan) and Ubisoft can thank sites like eurogamer/digital foundry for showing footage of the game falling below 20fps or so They mention the game looks good on WiiU but has huge FPS problems.
Every drop below 30 is an insult to gamers.
Start watching after 2:00 it even gets as low as 18fps or so at around 3:20

Put out several games, because the overall selection of games is limited and thus there's a higher chance for Ubisoft games to sell. Although blaming them for losing faith wouldn't be right. However, it's their own fault when their second batch of games bombs all around. At a time when first party software rolls out, third parties should bring their A game to benefit from the increased overall interest in console and software. The quality must be there, the marketing must be there. Otherwise third parties will have quickly recreated the situation that only Nintendo games sell in big numbers. At this point that seems to be inevitable though, because third parties are already throwing in their towels left, right and center. |
I dont think the second batch of games will bomb, though that "batch" is only including Rayman, AC and WD as far as I know.
Rayman is seemingly doing well on Wii U, when compared to other versions (Though granted, we only have EU numbers and theyre terrible on all platforms). AC4 should do better than AC3 did, mainly because its actually launching at the same time as the other versions.. And WD being a new IP with considerable hype behind it really shouldnt flop on any platform.
This Holiday is key for Wii U, thats for sure.

I don't see why any of these kind of games would sell on Wii U.It needs exclusive games that use it features that make it special...Like with Wii.
Take my love, take my land..
