Well, saves me $60 to be spent on a different game.

PS4 is coming this holiday. I'm sure BF4 will be there at launch.

Anyway. I predicted it about a Year ago now that the Wii U would struggle for support in the opening 20 Months, though Im surprised its not getting this considering its EA and EA philosophy is to milk everything like a big bovine whore for all that its worth. Nintendo need the big hitters out soon or interest in Wii U simply wont grow. |
EAs philosophy included avoiding the Dreamcast and the Wii. While the support of all western developers (except Ubisoft) for Wii was bad, EAs was a bit worse. Now they go a step more. I said in another thread, I think EA wants to simplify the market and get rid of a console they were never really big on and that offers heavy competition (in form of Nintendo). Same thing Capcom does with the Vita.

It's a significant absence for Wii U, no question, but the titles the system needs are the ones I listed. If CoD is on Wii U and sells millions (not a couple 100k) then Battlefield will follow. It's tough for the also-rans on a Nintendo console. Consumers this fall will pick up Zelda, MarioU and MarioKartU. After that Watch_Dogs, AC4 and CoD will battle for interest. When the world's biggest shooter is relegated to 2nd level interest because of a flagship Mario, the second-place shooter becomes an afterthought. |
You have obviously never played Battlefield.
It's a PC shooter, leagues ahead of CoD in scale.

The main reason you never see multiplats on Nintendo consoles is because comsumers only buy them for the first party exclusives. Wii U owners, if you really want this game, show it, show Nintendo you want multiplats. Sign petitions, do what ever it take to get the word out. I may not be the biggest Nintendo fan, but I don't want to see Nintendo to be ignore like this. |
This.
Most people who own Nintendo consoles don't buy third party on them and they're the reason that the support on the consoles have been so poor and there's next to no support for the Wii U.
The Wii U has sold around three million consoles with Zombie U being the third highest selling game on the console with 380,000. Only 11 games have sold 100,000 or more.
I wouldn't call Battlefield a second-tier franchise by any means.
This is expected though, considering the relationship between EA and Nintendo. Wii U's userbase isn't large enough yet for EA to make easy money either, so Wii U gets nothing for now.

not really since you said in another thread that you won't buy it because it's from ea.

Nintendo gamers bought a lot of third party games when their consoles were treated in an acceptable manner by third parties. When they started getting treated like shit, post SNES/N64, they bought less.
On the handhelds, where they haven't been given the middle finger, third party sales have always been healthy.

Probably DICE. They didn't want to sacrifice the project (spread themselves too thin). That usually doesn't matter to EA |
EA flat-out refused to let over Crysis 3, which was partly developed. Even if DICE did care, EA would make sure it didn't happen.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Didn't say it's not better. Or different. It's still a military shooter with less than half the sales of CoD. It is second fiddle. Rockband was better than Guitar Hero, many people liked Sonic better than Mario. Regardless, one is iconic with name value, one much less. Right now Wii U needs the name value titles to sell hardware. The others will follow if there is money to be made.
That said, I do think not having Battlefield is significant because it will be graphically of high quality on next gen titles. It's also one that easily could have been on Wii U if they wanted, unlike titles that were mostly done with PS360 in mind.
