If they charge 299 then the Japanese price will be pretty fantastic!

This price seems ok to me for a new product (they need room for adjustments). Depending on its power, if it has the same like PS360 its price is ok since it has this tablet.
But the additional tablet is ridicilous expensive. Seems like console developers want to offer a cheap entry and once you start expanding you'll need to invest serious money (because once you are hyped, you'd pay it). I am referring to Sony's prices for their Vita memory cards.

Well i am looking forward to this console. Maybe it will be a success ( i guess nintendo will be making money from the console from day one), but maybe it will struggle to sell at the beginning just like all recent consoles like vita and the 3DS. In the end it will become a success, that's for sure. But i really hope nintendo won't be dominating next gen (IF you count the WiiU to next gen) like they did this gen.

Based of the Yen pricing id say...
Probably 299$ for the base model, maybe 339$-349$ for the 32gig model-(game included?)
The extra controller could be anywhere from 119$-149$ most likely 129$

specs according to golem.de:
- 2 gb of ram (about half of it for games which i doubt)
- disc: proprietary, 25 gb of storage
- supports gpgpu
- power usage: 75 W, powersave 45 W

The extra pad for now is only for replacement... no game supports it. Pretty sure there won't be any games that support it anytime soon... if ever.

So it's pretty useless to think about it as expensive... unless yours fall to the ground or something.

yeah i thought so to but 250 seems shockingly low for me, specially for a nintendo console. the reason im saying specially for a nintendo console is because they always make profit at launch. and i dont think that they would make profit at 250 bucks, so thats why i assume the 300 price tag 

I don't think the pricve per se is a problem. The preception that "it's just a PS3/360 with a tablet controller and waaaaaay less memory" could be the problem. If it's perceived as truly next gen and a big leap ahead of PS3/360 then Price won't really be a factor.

But don't expect Wii like sales. $250 sold the Wii as much as Wiimote did. And touchscreen tablets for gaming aren't a "wow this is new and never been seen before" draw card either, unlike the Wiimote.

I hope Nintendo fans don't create hyped up sales expectations, because that can only lead to disappointment. I will be very surprised if Wii U achieves 1 million sales weeks this holidays, but when the ridiculous rumours of a $200 launch price were circling the net I bet a lot of fans were anticipating 1 million sales weeks for holiday 2012.

Nintendo is playing the game as they normally do, selling the console at a decent profit from day 1, and loading up the system with exclusive first party titles which means moderate sales are fine.

$299 for the USA I reckon. I don't see them being able to sell it for profit day for $250 in the USA. And remember the exchange rate was more favourable for a lower selling price in the USA at the time of the Wii launch. A strenghtening Yen vs the $$ and the GBP makes the comparison to Wii pricing a bit unreliable. I will be impressed indeed if they drop it to $250 in the USA.
