Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Gets December 4th release date for Japan (26,260, 31,500 Yen)

Also, yes the game pad is stupidly overpriced, it's probably Nintendo's Vita memory card. Difference is, you don't need the second pad to use the system.

Ongoing bet with think-man: He wins if MH4 releases in any shape or form on PSV in 2013, I win if it doesn't.

That OS ram maybe could make things like this possible, video chat during gameplay... that's cool.

Plus, I posted this on the other thread... but look at dat hub

Hmm...

Lastly...

hmm the standard controller seems to be very expensive. i would not really care if i wouldn't have needed at least three controllers for every console i used a lot since snes time where i only needed two because of too much usage and buttons/sticks wear.

sure i could have used the first controller over 7 years as example now for 360 but it just isn't as good after a while and sometime i feel like i have to replace it.

The extra pad for now is only for replacement... no game supports it. Pretty sure there won't be any games that support it anytime soon... if ever.

So it's pretty useless to think about it as expensive... unless yours fall to the ground or something.

So the only games that will use it in interesting ways will be single player games?

No, mutiplayer with asynchronous gameplay. Plus online multiplayer.

Well, the games I was thinking that won't be able to use it in multiplayer were games like Pikmin, Smash, Mario Bros or Mario Kart.

360 has 512 MB RAM for everything, so Wii U has 2 GB devided by OS and game RAM so 4 times the RAM of 360. PS3 has 256 MB btw.

How much of that 512 MB of 360 RAM is for the OS?

I got that all wrong with my 1GB post.  I knew the PS3 had 2 x 256 MB of RAM but I thought 360 had more than that.  But I guess not!

I don't think the Gamepad has a bright future.... It's expensive, unnecessary, and the benefits it provides are largely insignificant imo.

And what the Hell is symmetrical gameplay? Is this some sort of inside joke with hardcore Nintendo fans?

They'll have to think of creative ways to do it. Rayman apparently does it pretty well, for example. Pretty sure Smash will have some surprises as well, even using the 3DS in the mix.

Using pointer controls also gives the other players some advantages, not only disadvantages.

But online multiplayer has no problem and is probably the devs priority right now, so that won't impede them of thinking creative ways to use the pad.

Both players playing the game simultaneously using different controllers (Edit - explanation- player 1 uses one controller and player 2 uses another. Example: Resident Evil 5 co-op). That's what I think it is.

probably $299 or $349 for the 8GB model(absolutely ridicoulous, they must not be pushing digital at all this gen, which is a huge disadvantage considering how huge PSN/XBL has become for PS3/360) and $349 or $399 for the 32GB model.......

I knew that tablet controller would really really increase the price on the WII u, it doesn't look cheap, especially since it incorporated multi touch.. and other type of high tech sensors.. not only that but I'm assuming it takes a lot of processing power for the WII u to generate something on the tablet and on screen, hence the need for 2GB of ram, while having games about on par with ps3/360 visually(that and people have said WII u is going to be able to run 1080p versions of ps3/360 games that can normally only run at 720p) or maybe that 1GB is for the tablet and system.. and the other 1GB is really just for the games..
