Heh, I guess they would, but as far as I´m concerned, they´ll keep wishing for years.

Which i'd say could be pretty common in certain households. Controller don't generally last ALL gen, even with being careful with them. |
Yes, it's an extra cost for sure. Nintendo probably pulled a Vita memory card overprice here, in a small dose. or maybe not, maybe the thing is really expensive. Bad move, but not a deal breaker, because with one you'll be set for some good time. It's like a vita or 3ds, really. What happens if any of them fails?
The Gamepad price is really stupid. I mean I got a 24" multitouch computer monitor 1 year ago for 100 euros.
So how is a 7" single touch monitor with wifi and some plastic buttons that I can also have on a 2 euro china controller so much more than 100??? (even 100 would be to much)
I do know it has a basic processor and sensor bar etc but thats never worth so much money.
Makes no sense at all.
They seem to want noone to buy 2 controllers so they dont have to develop games that use two because they actually never intended to have more than 1 controller supported....
Seriously I would rather buy a second WiiU so I at least have a replacement console power unit cables etc for only 150 euros or so. (almost as cheap as Wii lol) than buy a single controller for 150 ....

Not sure how I'm baiting. I've seen someone mention asynchronous gameplay in this thread and I wasn't sure what that term meant. And considering the two different answers I've received from that post, I'm still not confident I know what the term means. The reason I ask if its an inside joke with Nintendo fans is because I've only ever seen Nintendo fans using that term. |
Dude, asymmetrical gameplay simply means the person with the wiiupad having a different display and/or task to those using wiimotes/classic controllers. This has a lot of potential for some classic multiplayer larks.

it could launch worldwide this year. But with the late Japan data, there's a fair chance that it won't. But yeah.... In surprised no one has mentioned this. |
Because Nintendo have mentioned many times that it will be launching Holiday 2012 across all regions.
It's even on the official site.

It also has an IR projector, camera, motion sensors and gyros, microphone and near field communication.

The address to me as 'dude' seems to give across an irritated vibe. I hope that's not the case. Anyway, what are some ways in which this asymmetrical gameplay could be utilized? As you can see, I'm not very familiiar with it. |
I'm far too old to get irritated ;)
Here's some of my ideas:
1) two player FPS games with separate screens so you can play without seeing what each other is doing (only way to do this currently is via crazy lan set-ups)
2) exploring different parts of an RPG world in two player co-op mode - this could be done in games like Resi where say, the floor caves in and one of the players falls through on their own - or some such.
3) being two different players in sports games... say a goalkeeper and a striker - two different displays
I'm sure we could think of loads more.
Nintendo have devised a few things, such as one player being able to see the entire map and others less so - a kind of run/catch game and one player being able to see all the characters whereas the others have to point their remotes at him/her to find them - look at the Animal Crossing and Luigi Mansion minigames in Nintendo Land...
