Forums - Nintendo - Wii U Gets December 4th release date for Japan (26,260, 31,500 Yen)

I don't think the Gamepad has a bright future.... It's expensive, unnecessary, and the benefits it provides are largely insignificant imo.

And what the Hell is symmetrical gameplay? Is this some sort of inside joke with hardcore Nintendo fans?

Symmetrical -> players use the same control scheme

A-symmetrical -> players using different control scheme to play different roles (Support/sabotage/playing as the level itself/...)

Damn, the U pad is frickin´expensive, people better do their best not to break it.

So the GamePad is half the pack value. Is the console that cheap to produce or is it sold at a mega-loss to lure buyers?

Wait...why was has no one mentioned it yet? Am I the only one surprised by the late release date? And since Japan typically gets hardware earlier, this could suggest that the North America and Europeon launches are next year.

I was wondering about this too, I really can't believe its that late into Christmas. There is no way the WiiU is going to launch in Europe this year then, it'll probably be £300 too >.>

The extra pad for now is only for replacement... no game supports it. Pretty sure there won't be any games that support it anytime soon... if ever.

So it's pretty useless to think about it as expensive... unless yours fall to the ground or something.

Which i'd say could be pretty common in certain households. Controller don't generally last ALL gen, even with being careful with them.

Not sure how I'm baiting. I've seen someone mention asynchronous gameplay in this thread and I wasn't sure what that term meant. And considering the two different answers I've received from that post, I'm still not confident I know what the term means. The reason I ask if its an inside joke with Nintendo fans is because I've only ever seen Nintendo fans using that term.

Looking at the price, i think Nintendo would like you to break it.

It's likely the gamepad that is way overpriced here

Yeah, Controllers always have the highest retail mark-up.

it could launch worldwide this year. But with the late Japan data, there's a fair chance that it won't. But yeah.... In surprised no one has mentioned this.
