Forums - Gaming - What do you expect the Wii U price point will be?

Nintendo is about to have an event announcing many things about the Wii U.   One of the things people think will be part of this event is the announcement of price (Tech Specs would have been so much nicer or more exciting even if it was only RAM amt  and CPU/GPU speed or cores) and release date.  I wonder what would be the perfect price point in order for the Wii U to be successful and when should it be released?  If Nintendo, releases the Wii U too high it will flop and if it would release it to low people will see the system as inferior to upcoming system.  I think the sweet spot for the Wii U should be $329-$349; and it should be released by the end of October 2012 or early Novermber 2012.  The system should have a pack-in game as well to add value to the system.  I honestly think, Nintendo should also release a few tidbits about the specs before releasing the system.  Things like amt of RAM and type of RAM, CPU/GPU cores are things that will be discovered anyways shortly after the system releases so why not discuss them during the event.  In conclusion, I also think that the Wii U games should sell between $50-$60 in price with nearly straight ports like Darksiders 2, AC, Batman: AC selling for $40-$50, and game exclusive like Zombie U and Rayman selling for $50-$60.

I reckon between $249 and $299 will be the launch price of the system, or £230-£250.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Confident at $300 - $350.
Enough to make a profit.
If it's higher, arrogance like the PS3 imo. I doubt it costs $400+ to make a Wii U If lower, either no profit or the Wii U isn't as powerful as we thought.

The pack-in game as Nintendoland I'm starting to doubt more and more, since it looks pretty packed in with content, where as Wii Sports was pretty cheap to make I would think. Relatively I mean. So... Maybe, it would be cool if that is true though.

Wii U games should sell $60 dollars I think, which I don't like but it's inevitable. If it sticks to $50, I'd be happy though.

I think it will be 299 euros or 249 euros at the minimum.
Games will be 10 euros more than Wii-games, I guess, since Wii games are relatively cheap, as cheap as DS games. So I think the games will cost as much as most 3ds games.

$299.99 with Nintendo Land bundled for North America and Europe.

Launches November 11th with Pikmin 3, Assassin's Creed 3, Rayman Legends, Zombi U.

NSMB U on Nov. 25th in time for Black Friday.

After the 3DS, Nintendo won't go into premium pricing range ($300+). They know they simply can't cut the mustard at those higher price points.

Just repeat the Wii's launch. System: 250, Retail games: 50, Launch date: November America/ December Worldwide. They could try 300 with a bundled game. (currency in EUR/USD)

EDIT: And if rumours of the manufacturing problems are true, they could spike up the price to keep demand in control.

I am much more interested in learning more about the system be it the OS, additional applications, launch window games and games in development - than price, launch date and official specs.

Nintendo will want their machine to look better than the 360 and PS3. Consumers always assume that if it costs more it must be better. I expect the Wii U to be between $50 and $100 more expensive than what ever the 360 and PS3 sell for at the time of launch. If they cost $250 then the Wii U will be between $300 and $350.

299 dollar and euro, no clue how much yen.

It can launch at $300 plus but will have to price cut within 6-12 months. They might do this to maximise profit. Whats the point at selling at a lower price when the hardcore Nintendo following will buy it straight away at the higher price. It's usually the way with new tech.

It will be in the 300-350 €/$-area I think. 250 would be nice, but seem unlikely. Something in between is possible, so to match expectations at profit and avoid a price too high, they may settle to 280 or 320 or whatever. I think Nintendoland is a pack-in. I hope the games get not more expensive than 50 €/$, that would be much more of a critical point to me, than the price of the system.
