Forums - PC - New Baldur's Gate, Enhanced Edition

Site is completely shot for me as well. I will settle for remaking BG in some way shape or form, that doesn't suck.

Agreed.

The "doesn't suck" part is what has me worried, though.  If "enhanced" means updated engine and a better looking game in general = sign me up.

If enhanced means changed gameplay, well...  I haven't played the original BG in YEARS, but I'm not sure how changes would affect my (fond) recollection of it.

With the games Bioware have stooped to making today, do we really want them to shit all over the BG license and name? Think about that long and hard. I know I don't. Bioware don't make RPG's any more, not even close, and its only getting worse.

I dont think BioWare themselves have the liencese for BG actually. Maybe it's some other company that does this and won't fuck it up? I am really just grasping at straws there, foolishly.

That could actually be positive. If the BG name ended up being treated with due respect by a company that holds more love for creating something worthwhile than their love for being EA and 7th generation action puppets, this could be good news after all.

This is interesting. BG is fantastic. Even if it's just better graphics its certainly exciting.

I'll probably get in trouble but I liked the combat in DA origins more than baulder's gate's combat (PC obv), so I don't think bioware would be completely incapable if they tried to make a game on PC.

It's just they haven't been trying so much.

I don't think that just because it isn't bioware, means it will have less of chance of being a dissapointment. I think it has a big chance regardless of who makes it because expectations baulder's gate has..

Yeah, BioWare started going downhill very quickly around 04--06. This game seems to be done by someone named Overhaul Games though, which seems to be a part of something called Beamdog, which however have someone who used to work in the original Baldur's Gate. THat is all I know.

Yes! Will definately get this. Looks like they'll be adding some new content though (from IGN):

A representative from Overhaul Games stated that Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition will not simply be a straightforward remake of BioWare's original game. "We're adding new original content in the spirit of the original game," the representative said, as well as "maintaining all the awesome that is Baldur's Gate." The team behind it will include new staff, as well as team members responsible for the original games.

No word yet on what the game will look like, or specifically what else is changing. It was also confirmed that Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition will be released at a later date. Both this and the first Enhanced Edition will be made in a "re-forged version of the Infinity Engine."

sweet might get it

Damn it no!! My productivity will be shot to shit!

"Shot to shit". Sounds catchy. Activision should trademark this as subtitle for their next COD game.

Yey, want!
