Halo 1 is a last-gen game.
Sure the re-made it for the Xbox 360 but that doesn't make it a current-gen game.

Does Quake 4 is a current Gen game !?!...bcs even if it's been release on Xbox360 fo me Halo CE An. looks better. So if a remake beat a game of a current gen on graphics and Gameplay make it a current gen game !?!

Honestly, I Know that quake 4 was release at the beginning of this gen But god the improvemement make it on par with a lot of current gen tittle. Of course not on par with AAA but good enough in gameplay and graphics to beat many 360 games.

Nope Halo Debuted at less than 100k and Zelda debuted less than 55k as Fifa 12 sold 55K all formats this week and Zelda was below that.

Saints row 3, MW3 and AC sales are below:

[ALL] Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 - ~256,000 (-87%) / ~2,230,000

[ALL] Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (Ubisoft) - ~229,000
[ALL] Assassin’s Creed: Revelations (Ubisoft) - ~238,000 (AC:B x 1.04)

[ALL] Saints Row 2 (THQ) - ~72,000
[ALL] Saints Row: The Third (THQ) - ~103,000 (SR2 x 1.43)

Ten years later, Halo: Combat Evolved is still the best FPS of all time. It's also still one of the best games of all time.

Halo brought first person shooters to the masses......that is its impact on Gaming History.....

I'm always unsure about this claim really - what do you mean by masses?

Half Life on PC sold I believe at least 8 million by 2004 while Halo had sold around 5 million by 2005.  Halo definately brought FPS to console in a big way, no doubt about it, but I struggle that a title that sold less than other titles on PC somehow popularised the genre in general.  If over 8 million people bought Half Life wouldn't you say HL brought FPS to more of the masses?

I guess you could argue console players were more "general" than PC players but TBH the original Xbox mainly sold to people wanting a PC experience and not traditional console owners anyway - i.e. the same demographic as Half Life.

Ah hell it was sure fire popular but I always feel it gets overpraised for certain stuff that PC titles were exceeding, from sales to online support.

I have the most epic death scene ever in VGChartz Mafia.  Thanks WordsofWisdom!

I don't know about this gen, I prefer games like COD for the multiplayer and Gears for the campaigns. Last gen Halo was definitely the best shooter with Timesplitters 2 a close second.

You know I was always wondering why no one ever used the dollar sign for $ony, but then I realized they have no money so it would be pointless.

Goldeneye says hi.

Goldeneye was both popular and a rare great FPS on console but due to timing and the console it was on it would never have had the impact of a Half Life in general or Halo on console.

Halo with MP and the emerging Live network paved the way for the huge growth in FPS/online (love it or hate it) on console instead of PC and set the path for 360/PS3 and where we are today.

Goldeneye by comparison was a bright gem that would have (IMHO) led to nothing much further regarding FPS/console titles, Nintento certainly were not (and only with Wii U may be) on a path that would have allowed Goldeneye to have a big legacy.  That's why Halo (rightly I'd argue) get's the accolades for popularizing the genre and in particular online on console and not Goldeneye.

On PC of course FPS, etc. was already well defined ahead of Goldeneye and only until relatively recently with the launch of 360 and the huge switch of consumer preference in US/UK in particular to console rather than PC for FPS/online has the legacy started primarily with Halo arrived.

It was a great game thought, influenual on others for sure, and popular with sales of over 8 million - but on a Nintendo platform it was always going to be an outlier for FPS/online than anything else - IMHO of course :)

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

As a huge Halo fan and a person that's been playing Anniversary since release I disagree. I mean the game is still tons of fun but nostalgia aside it doesn't beat out the current top games of this gen. The game holds up very well against today's games which is a testament to how well it was made but that's about it.
