Oh believe me there are many better online console games than halo

in terms of competitive online console shooters, no console game even comes close to halo reach or even halo 3 for that matter. Some could have better campaigns, (bioshock, portal, killzone 2). Some have more unique online play, (left 4 dead, team fortress 2). But absolutely  nothing on consoles comes close in terms of competitive play. Add in near unlimited customization of map layouts, weapon locations, and powerups via forge. A FREE stat tracking website that puts call of duty elite to shame, and a completely fleshed out "horde" mode and the game offers the best bang for your buck as well. Of course if you don't like halo's gameplay you won't enjoy it, but if you do you can literarly play the game forever and still experience new things every day.

I really hope someone tries to mention killzone 3 as an overall better alternative so I can get a good laugh.

Nah dude Call of Duty 4 is better than Halo. I will say Halo CE is better than 90% of shooters this gen though.

Yeah, I'll give that title to Call of Duty 4 by a mile.

One of the only shooters that I have actually loved.

In my opinion halo has the most competitive and best mp of any game in the last 10+ years. Any cod game is eliminated by the fact that there is zero teamwork. There is also no skill involved in any cod since cod 2, no tactics besides wait for the guy to come to you. I dont know how you could even argue cod is better. If you were arguing battlefield 2, team fortress, gears, or quake had a better mp id be fine with that but COD are you kidding me.

You think MP in Halo was better than Halo 2 and 3?  Your OP was Halo 1 specifically and all my comments were about Halo 1 not the franchise.  I'd say Halo 3, Gears, CoD4 and arguably quite a few others offer more sophisticated and polished MP than Halo 1.  Halo 1 had a great SP and a great fun but rather embryonic (next to MP at the time on PC) experience that was quickly eclipsed by Halo 2 and obviously others on 360/PS3.

IMHO obviously :)

It's fine to feel that way, i love the game aswell... but!

1:Some skulls are a bitch to collect requiring stuff like grenade/rocket jumps, this is a faulty way of doing stuff, they need to make their placements better in Halo 4.

2: Scan feature exclusive to Kinect? LAME, i've played Halo since Halo 1, i don't own a kinect, i don't want a stupid kinect, and it's lame that they would make such a promising feature exclusive to a peripheral.

3:

Online... should have redone all the original maps and gameplay, would've been way better.

Is it a great game? Hell yes, it really benefits from the fact that the original was awesome.
Best ever? Not really, the new features they added, while great, should have been implemented better at places.

All in all, still a great game after 10 years.
