Halo 1 was my pick for best XBox game overall just behind KOTOR. So I'll agree to that. Halo 2 did put online play into the Mix and that was great to, the single player not so much.

This gen I feel Bioshock was by far the best single player FPS on the market.

Halo 1 is a last-gen game.
Sure the re-made it for the Xbox 360 but that doesn't make it a current-gen game.

Ok so the visuals are loads better on Anniversary. But the gameplay is brilliant.

 I haven't played the original in abou 7 years. But the game design is just so good. Its tactical, and fluid. No QTE's. No scripted moments. No  BS gimmicks. Its amazing how a game from 10 yeaars ago in a genre I enjoy can show how easy and stramlined the modern FPS is. Even Reach, cant compare. 

Halo Aniversary is the perfet Remake. It leaves Halo CE compltely untouched. Th gamplay is exactly the same. You can play the gae with old visuals and old sound. Or Remastered visuals and remastered sound. Or mix and match as you choose. The terminals are Halo fanservice and getting the new Anniversary map include makes me think microsoft dont like money right now. 

Seriously the best remake in gaming history. Of what is still the best consol FPS campaign ever. 

All we need now is  for devs to tak a leaf out of Halo  CE's gameplay.

2)Ehhh not really. I've seen better remakes. I don't know about best FPS campaign ever. I find the Resistance 1 campaign far more interesting and fun, but that's just me.

I'm always unsure about this claim really - what do you mean by masses?

Half Life on PC sold I believe at least 8 million by 2004 while Halo had sold around 5 million by 2005.  Halo definately brought FPS to console in a big way, no doubt about it, but I struggle that a title that sold less than other titles on PC somehow popularised the genre in general.  If over 8 million people bought Half Life wouldn't you say HL brought FPS to more of the masses?

I guess you could argue console players were more "general" than PC players but TBH the original Xbox mainly sold to people wanting a PC experience and not traditional console owners anyway - i.e. the same demographic as Half Life.

Ah hell it was sure fire popular but I always feel it gets overpraised for certain stuff that PC titles were exceeding, from sales to online support.



Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

A matter of opinion buddy, i personally found Call of Duty 4 to be rather dull, just my opinion though. :)

example:
online multiplayer: KZ2
offline multiplayer: Goldeneye 007 N64
best single player campaign: Wolfenstein or Doom
best story: Black

Oh believe me there are many better online console games than halo

in terms of competitive online console shooters, no console game even comes close to halo reach or even halo 3 for that matter. Some could have better campaigns, (bioshock, portal, killzone 2). Some have more unique online play, (left 4 dead, team fortress 2). But absolutely  nothing on consoles comes close in terms of competitive play. Add in near unlimited customization of map layouts, weapon locations, and powerups via forge. A FREE stat tracking website that puts call of duty elite to shame, and a completely fleshed out "horde" mode and the game offers the best bang for your buck as well. Of course if you don't like halo's gameplay you won't enjoy it, but if you do you can literarly play the game forever and still experience new things every day.

I really hope someone tries to mention killzone 3 as an overall better alternative so I can get a good laugh.

killzone 3 is better.

its the best FPS of any generation. best multiplayer for FPS ever.
