Forums - Nintendo - So....no Xenoblade?

It makes me sad.

Above: still the best game of the year.

@email: Why won't they announce something official already?

NoA really are being idiotic about this game. Really can't believe NoE is one-upping them on this game.

If this game doesn't come over then I'm going to import for sure but that's the worst case scenario I'd hope I don't want to do. There's no reason not to bring such a hyped RPG that's already localized by NoE but decide to bring over DQMJ2 instead (not saying it shouldn't come over though, just doesn't make sense not to bring out Xenoblade as well).

Good luck bringing hardcore gamers over to the Wii U NoA if you're not even bringing over your best games. There's still time to wise up, but...

Lots of people on other sites are complaining as well.

I'm baffled why they don't localise as well

Surely given that text and voice translation has already been done they can essentially 'free ride' off NoE's efforts, most of the work has been done for them.  They can publish it, incurring little costs and make a certain profit, even if the game sells very poorly.  Americans will just have to put up with our strand of English in text and voices, that's all.

I spoke to a guy from EEDAR at E3 this week about this topic because I'm a huge freakin' nerd and was hugely dissapointed by Ninty not talking about Xenoblade or TLS and he told me there's a lot more involved with the localization than I might think because the Wii is region locked.  Seems a lot has to be changed in the switch over from one regions's discs to another.

Unfortunately this doesn't fix us not getting it, just thought you guys may be interested.

I doubt he was speaking from knowledge. The same game can be played on different region Wiis with no trouble using homebew (which is what I'm gonna do if I decide to import from Europe)

In fact, people can go even further and change the "region" of their Wii anytime they want, it's the same exact hardware

I wouldn't imagine it's an issue with the hardware but more the coding on the actual disc, but you may be right anyway.

Don't worry us UK people will let you know how the game is and provide you with screens, boasting ermm I mean our impressions, music and everything more in September when we discuss the games on the forums and enjoy playing the title in September (if rumors are true for a sep release)

This is a new email someone got from GameFAQs:

http://www.gamefaqs.com/boards/960564-xenoblade/59406691

Greetings,

Thanks for contacting us. To address your concerns, first let me state that Nintendo does not provide automated responses to consumers who email us with questions. Keep in mind that when multiple consumers send us the same or similar question, they will all receive the same answer. We only provide official answers based on the information we currently have available.

As of right now, Monado: Beginning of the World is still scheduled to be released for the North American region.

Sincerely,

Dale Thompson
Nintendo of America Inc.

Very interesting.. this is a little more encouraging than the typical "no info at the moment", if they´d just added a winking eye at the end of the last sentence, we would not be worried at all.

It would be funny if Nintendo were just trolling us...."we don´t have any information about Xenoblade at the moment...but if you want we could tell you about this game called Monado".

^Well that's a better answer than the one I got from NoA when I asked about NPC Pikmin 2 back in April....

edit: I know this is just flaim-bait, but I'm still pissed. Here's further proof NoA suck big time compared to NCL and NoE:

http://www.cubed3.com/news/15709

"It has been announced that Junction Point's Disney Epic Mickey on Wii will be released in Japan by Nintendo. The highly impressive 3D platform adventure will launch across Japan on 4th August and follows Nintendo's plans to release Ubisoft's Just Dance 2 and Activision Blizzard's GoldenEye 007 (30th June, a week after a new Wii bundle hits). However, the game will not simply be localised in Japanese, but will have the camera issues fixed and the difficulty setting tweaked, all under Nintendo's personal supervision! Whether or not this Epic Mickey amended edition ever makes it abroad, we shall have to wait and see, but Nintendo did confirm that the game had already sold more than two million units across Europe and the US so far (1.1 million of which was sold during its launch month in the US, last November)."

All I can say to NoA is Shape up or Ship Out!

Until you've played it, every game is a system seller!

To NoA's mention of Monado, the title's been on their release list for a couple of years now. They've been taking it off and putting it back on at random, but never changing the name to Xenoblade, which is weird. So this isn't exactly new information.

Pretty much the last 2 E3s have been nothing but disappoints to me because of Xenoblade not being announced lol. I'm too much of a Monolith fanboy. Even with Wii's stellar line-up last year I was just like ">:
I'm gonna stick out till later this year probably. Hopefully it will show up at Gamescom, but after that, I can't imagine it being anywhere else other than a fall conference. Unless, of course, Nintendo just throws it out randomly like Europe did.

Right not I'm kind of 60/40 on the whole thing. On one hand Nintendo of Europe is already localizing and Nintendo of America registered XenobladeChronicles.com or whatever. But at the same time, I wouldn't put it past them to leave it as EU/JP only title. They didn't localize Disaster or Another Code either, both of which were already pretty much localized.

Oculin's Box - Sometimes I think about video games when I'm not playing them.

I e-mailed them too

To whom it may concern:

Alright, I went to E3 this year expecting to see Xenoblade (formally Monado: Beginning of the World), The Last Story and Pandora's Tower. Is Nintendo of America abandoning fans of this genre? I don't really get it. It's worth noting that the Xenosaga series sold better in the US than it did in Japan. Not only that, Nintendo of Europe already confirmed Xenoblade coming to Europe (with English voice acting) so that makes it really confusing why it wouldn't come here. If you guys could shed any light on this I would appreciate it.

PS It is time Nintendo learns from Disney about how to manage long lines and come up with a fast pass system. Two hours in line to play the Wii U was WAY too long.

and they said

Thank you for writing to Nintendo. I can understand your interest in games like Monado: Beginning of the world, because I have also been following this game since it was announced. I can only reiterate that the game has been officially announced for release in the US, but it does not have a release date. I would like to provide you with more information, but I do not have any further details. In regards to The Last Story and Pandora's Tower, there is no indication that these games will be announced for release in the US.

I'm unable to offer a specific reason why these two titles or any others would be released in one market, but not another. These can include difficulty or cost of localization, the size and financial strength of the publisher, the size of the distribution network, and (most often) the idea that the game will simply not be accepted or enjoyed in another market.

With that being said, I was sorry to hear that you suffered long wait times at E3, but I hope that you enjoyed yourself. I will be forwarding your email in it's entirety to our other departments for further review.

As always, you never know what the future holds, so keep an eye on our website (http://www.nintendo.com) for all the latest news as it becomes available.
