I thought i posted here but... I didn't.

Weird.

Anyway, i expect a huge PSP pricecut at E3. They NEED to do something to try get it selling well again.

Pricecut + Bundles + PSP 4000? + MHF3 = SALES!!!

MHP3 is comming out, and a couple of other titles ( like Project K, FFXIII Agito and PE3) will give it boost in Japan. So yeah, IMO LT 17-18 million in Japan is not out of question This was a portable showdown generation in Japan, and I do believe that next gen could be dominated by handhelds again

I think one of the PSP's biggest issues is price.  It has had only one price drop since release.  Drop the PSP to $139, drop the bundles to $169, and bundle the Go with a game at $199 and I think it'd be doing much better.  Since early last year the system has been getting a pretty steady supply of both first party games and Japanese titles, so library isn't the issue it once was.

I think we'll see a price cut sometime this year, possibly at GamesCom.  They'll probably lower the price in preparation for the PSP2 if nothing else.

If my memory serves me right it has had two price drops in west. From $249 to 199$ and then from $199 to $169. In japan it has had only one price drop though (from 20 000 yen to 17 000). I agree that it needs new price drop though because sales are horrible especially in usa. (last price drop in west was in beginning of 2008 if I remember right)

well, it's doing powerfull in japan

if the sales keep like this....

It needs a price drop.
I considered getting a PSP earlier this year for about 7-12 games, but then I Amazoned it and found out it was $179; instant turn-off.

Considering how long it has been out, the fact that it is only $20 cheaper than a Wii is preposterous, even with its great PS1 & Genesis library.............

Leatherhat on July 6th, 2012 3pm. Vita sales:"3 mil for COD 2 mil for AC. Maybe more. "  thehusbo on July 6th, 2012 5pm. Vita sales:"5 mil for COD 2.2 mil for AC."

Pretty easily.

Should top SNES too.... which shows tha tgaming really is moving to portables in Japan.

Software figures it will struggle to manage though.... GBA sold 73 million games in Japan, PSP is probably around 40 million.

It was originally $249 at launch, but that's because they only made the bundle available.  Of course, the original bundle contained a case, cleaning cloth, headphones, and a 32mb memory card, as opposed to a game and a 2gb memory card like today.  Shortly after lalunch they released the standalone unit for $199 due to low sales.

PSP should end up outselling GBA world wide.. it needs to get passed 72 million.. and Sony's figures as of DEC 31 are a little over 60 million..

they need to cut price, and they should be able to sell another 15-20 million units before the system is completely dead..
