Weird.
Anyway, i expect a huge PSP pricecut at E3. They NEED to do something to try get it selling well again.
Pricecut + Bundles + PSP 4000? + MHF3 = SALES!!! |
I think one of the PSP's biggest issues is price. It has had only one price drop since release. Drop the PSP to $139, drop the bundles to $169, and bundle the Go with a game at $199 and I think it'd be doing much better. Since early last year the system has been getting a pretty steady supply of both first party games and Japanese titles, so library isn't the issue it once was.
I think we'll see a price cut sometime this year, possibly at GamesCom. They'll probably lower the price in preparation for the PSP2 if nothing else.

If my memory serves me right it has had two price drops in west. From $249 to 199$ and then from $199 to $169. In japan it has had only one price drop though (from 20 000 yen to 17 000). I agree that it needs new price drop though because sales are horrible especially in usa. (last price drop in west was in beginning of 2008 if I remember right)

It was originally $249 at launch, but that's because they only made the bundle available. Of course, the original bundle contained a case, cleaning cloth, headphones, and a 32mb memory card, as opposed to a game and a 2gb memory card like today. Shortly after lalunch they released the standalone unit for $199 due to low sales.
