Whenever playing video games, I go through this whole ritual (minimize daylight via closing blinds with light toward ceiling + blackout curtain + set air to 72F with space heater at 85F (to keep air circulating) + cleaning my glasses + set up my TV to specific settings to minimize latency and maximize graphics presentation + etc.) to make sure maximize the enjoyment I get out of the game.

That said… the thought of picking up my Switch 2 and casually playing it on-the-go just boggles my mind. I can’t even look at my phone in a moving vehicle without getting motion sickness! How can somebody play something like Dark Souls or The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask so casually in public? I speak as somebody who mostly games on (PC and) Switch 1/2.

i dont really sit in front of the tv anymore to game. I now prefer to use a handheld, be it the steam deck, switch, evercade, portal or g-cloud. I feel the smaller screen, but closer to my face, is a better experience than sitting on a couch 6-8ft away from a 55" tv. Maybe if i had an even bigger TV... like 85+ inches, then things could be different. As it is, i like the portability and ease of just taking the device with me to different areas instead of only being in one place.

I used to play games on the go a good deal as a kid with handhelds like the GBA and DS but nowadays I basically never do that since the downsides are too great. Same goes for why I never watch stuff like films on my phone. Even disregarding the screen being way smaller I prefer speakers to headphones and don't play games or watch stuff while laying in bed so it's just all around much worse experience for me.

I ride the train about an hour to and from work everyday. Generally play my Switch on the way. I can't always play in a car, but train is fine.

Nah I'm the same as you actually, prefer to game on my own TV where I have the settings just right, on a comfy couch, in a controlled environment.

Gaming on the go just isn't my thing.

I play my handhelds at home. Most the time Switch is docked but sometimes play it in my chair while watching a show. My mind is too busy when in public to try and concentrate on a game. I don't even have anything on my phone. On the go just have headphones on listening to music and just think about stuff.

Bite my shiny metal cockpit!

When my wife is on the ps5 , i go on switch portable. When she's shopping occasionally, ill be in the car on switch. I wish switch had 4k support on most games, for some reason it looks beyter handheld.

Can't just game for short periods. I've gotta have a bare min of a couple hours, typically more. I also don't like to be uncomfortable or bothered. I want to be able to relax and be pulled into the experience. Mobile gaming on the go rarely allows for that so it doesn't interest me.

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

I play at home on my TV, with my Switch 2 docked and using the Switch 2 Pro Controller.

When I'm going to something where I know I will be sitting for a long time with nothing to do, such as getting car maintenance, or flying, my Switch 2 comes with me. It passes the time in flight and in the airport while waiting to board/during layovers. If I'm not going somewhere where I will have a lot of downtime, I won't bother bringing any games.

I don't play in the car. Law enforcement frowns on me playing games in the car while I'm driving, so I don't do it.

No.

Back around 2013, while going on college, I would sometimes play Block Breaker 3: Unlimited on my phone while waiting for my ride. But that's all, I'm not really into handheld gaming.

I purchased a 2DS in 2017, but I barely play it, and always at my home.
