Nice opening for Spla2n, should become another evergreen Switch title.

Breath of the Wild passes Horizon (again) to become the best selling game of 2017.

Time for Horizon to cut its price again. ;)

How cheap can it get?

5 bucks.

Or maybe they'll finally put some value into their IP's and let it stay at more than 30$

You can go too far the other way though; Nintendo keeping their games full price for years after they come out is not a practice I'm a fan of.

uh well the RESELL value stays high as well so its not 100% ninty's fault. most first party DS games stay at the 20~30$ mark for used gmaes, and wii/gamecube games at 50.

I eman, why discount if people buy it anyway.

You realise that their IPs compete with a lot of other IPs, right? The sheer amount of games and sales means that games prices will go down. Mario Kart 8 Wii U is $60 on Gamestop's website. GTAV PS4 is $30. I guess GTA doesn't have any value as an IP...

Cos it's anti-consumer to charge full price for a game that's, say, 3 years old.

Not if consumers are willing to invest full price on a 3 year old game. This is the basic of offer and demand.

Full price for a years-old game is a ripoff, whether some consumers are willing to be ripped off doesn't change that.

Full price for a years-old game is a ripoff, whether some consumers are willing to be ripped off doesn't change that.

But if a majority of consumers are willing to pay that price, it's that they're ok with it and agree that the product is worth the price. There's no point in cutting a price if consumers are still willing to pay for it.

Where does it say that? Where is stated?

"Because people will put up with it" is not adequate justification. Companies will try to get away with the most disgusting behviour imaginable if they think people will "put up with it". That's the thinking that has resulted in games being unreleased as buggy broken messes, massive day 1 patches, on disc DLC, and countless other horrid practices.
