Forums - Sales Discussion - For those claiming PSP Go didn't flop it's time to step up

So you are telling me you and the majority of people expected the Go to increase sales 400% of the PSP and start selling on par with the DS? LOL... okay... now I know you're trolling.

You and the majority expected a higher priced DD only system to go from the worse selling system to the best... LOL...

You and the majority expected the PSP Go to spark intrest and intice an extra 300k people weekly to purchase a PSP... LOL!

You and the majority expected the PSP Go to just start crushing a monopoly that was in place for 20 years now. LOL! Oh man... this is good.

AHAH! It comes out!  Now I know why you seemed so persistant to lower the bar. If you think I'm trolling, you are sadly mistaken, I don't/didn't, know the sales numbers of the DS Lite. I just know that it is FAR more objective to compair something to it's compeditors counterpart that to compair it to it's older model. Hey, here's the kicker! I don't own either system, and even better, I don't want the DS OR the DS Lite, but i wouldn't mind the PSP 3000. But you know, just cuz I call you out, all of a sudden I'm the troll You just exposed yourself in a BIG way my friend. and to think, I was actually trying to help you out in this argument by installing a basis by with the PSP go could be fairly judged.

I don't own nor do I want either one. If I did I would have bought one back when Crisis Core was released but one game is not enough to justify a purchase.

In you logic you believe that every single internet browser combined is a flop because it doesn't sell nearly as much as microsofts. LOL! Yeah, I think you are being ridiculous and silly.

Do you believe that the pizza place i eat at is also a flop because it doesn't sell as much pizza as Pizza Hut? I mean... after all... we have to hold the mom and pop pizza places to the same standards as chains right? Comparing it to a competitor of theirs.

I would compare it to a X360 Slim Arcade with a hard drive but no CD-Rom.

And despite the fact that I think it's great, so far it's a flop.

An X360 Slim with a 100GB hard drive, no DVD drive, for $280.

How would that sell?

It wouldn't.

Once again...

It is in line with Sony's expectations.

The only standard available at the time of this writing that one could compare the first week of sales for the PSP go! would be to compare it to the first week of sales for other hand held gaming devices.
For example:

The original PSP
The Nintendo DS
The Nintendo Gameboy Advance
The Nintendo Gameboy Color
Etc, etc.

Some may claim that, as a new product which lacks the traditional retail channel it would be unfair to compare it to said consoles, but it is the only standard we have to go by for at the moment.
But; it could also be argued that comparing it to the original PSP would be fair as when it debuted it was opening with a new media standard (UMD) to play games/videos.

Also, when more information becomes available we could judge from our POV how bad/well it did according to the expectations of SONY, since we don't have hard numbers to go by at the moment, things to take into account, like : costs of development, costs of manufacture, and profit/loss in sales.

Just saying...

If a 360 slim came and sold like that, I would consider it a flop. However

1) The 360 slim wouldn't nearly be as dramatic of a change.
2) The PSPGo wasn't made to take the place of the 3000 like the 360 would be made to do.
3) The 360 Slim wouldn't rely on complete different methods of distribution.
4) The 360 slim wouldn't release at a higher price.

Overall, I think you're making a weak comparison.

It cant be a success either, since you cant define success. Its all symantics.

One mans trash is another mans treasure.

Do people think SAony made the go so thyat it could flop?

They made a product that they thought would sell well and give them a drop in the bucket worth of cash.

It did not sell well, just like madworld and The conduit

A lot of apologists in here. A company doesn't R&D a product and release on the assumption that it is going to be a flop or an experiment. That's just insane; especially given Sony's sketchy finances at this time.

I think they should have encased it in red plastic and called it the Virtual Boy 2.

How much would "sold well" in SONY's mind for the PSPGo???

That's the question no one is asking...
