Aaand now you can't buy Anime from CR unless you pay the two highest end subscription fees.

Yep; same old MO; kill competition, lock people into your ecosystem, then fuck them in the arse by endlessly raising the prices while enshittifying the product.

You pay more and more for less and less, and there are no legal alternatives.

And when most of your customers are priced out, who cares, raise the prices even higher to milk the 1% of whales at the top.

So to recap

>Removed 551 movies from PSN and the licences off people who purchased them with zero refund.
>Stopping discs in 2028
>Ending future PlayStation support in 121 countries that don’t have PSN to download said “codes in a box” in 2028
>Making the Crunchyroll store exclusive to the highest subscription tiers and also removing said tiers store benefits the same day.

I love that Sony has finally ripped the mask fully off to reveal the shitty arrogant company they’ve always been and people convinced themselves they weren’t. They need a PS3 style humbling.

Yeah, whenever I have to go all digital, I will make sure I dont lose much if this ever happens to me. Hope we get some better costumer protection for it before I do though.

Yeah the law has not kept pace with technology, as per usual, and much greater consumer protections are needed to prevent stuff like this where companies can just arbitrarily take away things we've spent our hard earned cash on.

lol. i mean i was kind of half joking with the question. its just funny to imagine sony laying out this convoluted plan, trying to predict the response of the masses and accounting for all these things that could happen to ultimately position themselves the savior for a problem they introduced themselves.

They did,not to investors afc but to the higher up suits, showed with their skewed digital vs physical numbers that most wont care, sure they might not,and time will tell.

Politics 101:

-Create problem yet blame someone else for causing it and/or standing in the way of solving it.

-Offer solution to the problem that requires transferring power from the people to the Gov or giving Gov additional powers.

-Poorly execute solution and blame others for the faults, while selling the fix as the greatest accomplishment in history, all thanks to them.

-Rinse and repeat.

This works for business too, often enough.

PS1   - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.

PS2  - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.

PS3   - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.

PS4   - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.

PRO  -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.

PS5   - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.

PRO  -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

So I have it on good authority that PS6 will be a monthly rental with no ability to buy it. Once you stop subscribing your PS6 gets deactivated and if you don't return it your bank account is charged increasing fees.

Any day now...

'In response to supply chain trends, we will no longer be assembling our consoles with physical memory. As of the launch of PS6, holiday 2027, all RAM will need to be downloaded from the PS Store. This transition has no impact on hardware that already released, or will be releasing, prior to the launch of PS6.'

'This is a natural direction for Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for affordable hardware outpaces the need for a second or third job. This transition will enable us to align more closely with how most of our community are broke a** ni**as, who'd prefer to be able to afford some software along with the hardware.'

'We’ll continue to prioritize our resources to drive innovation like moving from physical to digital only media. We remain committed to fighting class action lawsuits worldwide for our fans and we thank you for your support.'
