I think it makes sense really, Playstation has spent the last 20 years cultivating an audience for these kind of blockbuster releases, whereas the Nintendo audience has largely had to learn to do without them.

The PS5 base is also still larger than Switch 2's.

Many people have been saying for years the PS5 software sales are garbage and that proves the PS5 has been exported in mass from Japan and that Japan PS5 hardware sales are actually lower. Yet here we have a game with no brand attachment with over double the attach rate on PS5 than Switch 2.

Pragmata's simply the kind of game the PS base prefers; if you're a Japanese console gamer who cares about AAA releases, chances are you're a PS owner as that's where the lion's share of such games have been for decades.

Nintendo has only recently started to grow an audience for these kind of games after a 20 year absence.

Cross ownership is also going to be a thing, so it may be a game where people prefer to play it on a more powerful machine versus something like Dragon Quest which doesn't look or play much better on PS5 vs Switch.

I think this will apply to most AAA titles regardless of their install bases

Is this the first time Xbox Series has seen a game release in the charts in Japan?

Well, the last time an Xbox Series X/S game was on the charts was when Diablo IV released about 3 years ago. And before that, it was when Forza Horizons 5 was released

i also think, Switch 1 will continue selling as usual 12-15k after price increase

It's averaged 20k a week so far this year. After the major price rise I'd be surprised if it often goes above 12k again. You don't increase the price by 30% and not do a lot of damage.

Yeah an Xbox game making the top 30 is a rare sight; I wonder if we will ever see this again or if this is the last time.

To add, interesting ratios so far. New ip so not really any previous fanbase.

RE makes sense due to the drought and varied release dates.

It's definitely a surprise to me how the SW2 numbers compare to PS5 for this game. Like a Dragon had the excuse of it being a fairly new IP to Nintendo platforms. But this is a new IP launching at the same time on both platforms. With how poor PS5 software sales figures have been on Famitsu this is not what I expected.

Yeah 28.6 times the number of Switch 2 buyers vs PS5 buyers this week, and yet PS5 Pragmata is 1.5 times the Switch 2 version. People buying the Switch 2 just don't really want Pragmata it seems.

Yowza, that's a BIG jump.
Makes sense though, given the announcement of the price hike in September.
