Forums - Nintendo - Starfox, a reimagining of Starfox 64, out now on Switch 2

Star Fox 64 & Ocarina of Time remakes in the same year? Kinda funny because the 3DS versions of both games released in the same year.

Yeah it kinda reminds me how Switch 2's 2025 had a new Mario Kart, Donkey Kong, and Hyrule Warriors just like Wii U's 2014.

Given the minor adjustments, not a complaint, for SF64 remake. Does this imply Ocarina Remake (if true) will be a faithful port? I lean towards yes.

I imagine it will be mostly faithful, with a lot of QoL adjustments. The main addition to this game seems to be a stronger focus on the story and characters.

Why does this remind me of star fox zero? (wiiu game).
like why doesn't it look better than it does here?

*edit:

Like the wii u was not really that loved by the community.
I would have thought they would have wanted to distance themselves from that.
Am I wrong?

Good point, I could see the story in Ocarina being extended and built out.

Side note (not directed at you) but I am getting more ok with the price, still think it is too high, but the game has multiple routes, is built for multiple plays and the added challenges means the game has some legs.

Why didn't they do like a stylized cartoon look instead?
This looks wrong to me,.. this looks like they got stuck, and don't know how to do the 3D version of Starfox.
It's a repeat of Starfox Zero (wii U) in visuals, and that is not a great look for it.

This is the same thing that happen, with Donkey Kong 3D.... it took a few tries before Nintendo got it "right".

Interesting that the character art deviates from the redesigns in the Mario movie , great visual presentation overall but the Movie got exactly right and this feels a bit too lacking in the expressiveness/stylisation. Makes me think maybe it wasn't developed in-house?

Honestly this doesn't feel like it needed another remake, an outright reboot would of been more welcome but after watching the Prologue with Foxes Dad, it makes me think they're using this as a smaller scope project to set up the proper sequel.

This looks WAY better than Star Fox Zero (visually I mean).

Probably going to skip, I got the one on 3DS because I liked the original when I was a kid. But after playing some hours of the 3DS version a beating it once I realized I was paying ~30 USD (I got it second hand) for a game that takes like 2 hours to beat

Simply not enough for me

I'm happy for the younger people who haven't gotten around to playing a Star Fox game before, and I'm also happy that the franchise has a chance to succeed because it could mean more Star Fox games to come. But this is a hard sell for me. I'm happy playing my old consoles and games, sketchy frame-rates and low-poly-counts and all.
