Forums - Nintendo - Starfox, a reimagining of Starfox 64, out now on Switch 2

Given the visuals, especially the lighting, I assume this might be the first game that started development on Switch2. I would not be surprised if this is the first Nintendo game using ray tracing.

It feels like a deja vu. They did Wind Waker HD on the Wii U to use an older game as a base to get to grips with HD graphics. I assume the same will happen with the presumed Ocarina of Time remake.

Would this, potentially, be the first game from Nintendo with DLSS? Not sure if they have used it previously on DK and MK.

On the note of OoT: I definitely 100% anticipate a faithful (not reimaginative) remake at this point. Seeing how they’ve handled the SMRPG, PM:TTYD, and now SF64 remakes, I’m convinced that Nintendo’s philosophy is to preserve the original creation but with [X] years of technological development.

That said, my 8th grade self is kicking in his seat right now eagerly awaiting this fabled OoT Remake. This is something I was dying for back when I first got started with Nintendo during 2017/2018.

Star Fox, Star Fox 64, Star Fox 64 3D, Star Fox Zero, Star Fox (2026)
Nintendo can't distance themselves from the basic Star Fox story. I know there are also the GameCube games, Command, and Star Fox 2. Be that as it may, a lot of repetition in the story and themes.
This will be successful, so perhaps Nintendo can finally move on more. They were banking on Zero to start over and after that flopped it was time to start over again.

Can't be as bad DLS5.

Not sure I follow your statement.  DLSS upscaling is spectacular, amazing, fantastic, game changing.  Nintendo should be using the crap out of it.

I literally can't tell the difference between DLSS Quality 4k versus Native 4k, except when I use DLSS Quality I get 30-40 fps more because of the massive amount of resources being saved on the GPU side.

(I think you're mistaking a 5 for an S. He's referring to the DLSS 5 model. DLS5, not DLSS.)

But we are talking S2, which doesn't have DLSS 5 capability.  Thus, I am confused at his point.

So from what I understand, CaptainExplosion doesn't like the redesign (he even compared it to the Sonic design from the original cut of the Sonic Movie). Though while not a fan of the hyper-realism, he's saying that it's at least still better than DLSS 5 hyper-realism.

Looking back at his comment though I kinda see your confusion... as you comment had nothing at all to do with DLSS 5 lol. Maybe I'm wrong.

Why does this remind me of star fox zero? (wiiu game).
like why doesn't it look better than it does here?

*edit:

Like the wii u was not really that loved by the community.
I would have thought they would have wanted to distance themselves from that.
Am I wrong?

It only looks similar to Zero if your name is Mr Magoo.
