I don't know why some people (a minority) are so upset about this game, because I think most people (especially younger generations) haven't played Star Fox 64. If Nintendo doesn't make a Star Fox game, some fans get upset. If Nintendo does make a Star Fox game (even if it's a remake), that minority also gets upset. I'm not going to buy the game, but it's always good for the Switch 2 to have as many exclusives as possible.

I think some are fairly disappointed because this game has been retread like 4x.... for the younger generation who haven't experienced it, there would be no difference between this and a full on new game/reboot.

I haven't seen anyone crashing out about this though.

The implication is that more star Fox is coming.

Cranky Kong shares my sentiments.

If I remember correctly, Nate said before this direct that a Star Fox game will be released in the summer of 2026 (June, 25) and a new one in 2027, so perhaps this game is meant to reintroduce the franchise, but to a new audience, not for the old one.

I mean, the disappointment for some is understandable, especially for those invested into the franchise or have played a good amount of the OG games.

Retreading familiar again and again ... And again is bound to cause irritation.

Though, it's a judgement only you can make from your personal experience with it.

From that first look, it seems to be going in a somewhat safe but interesting direction nonetheless. There's definitely more hope and anticipation from this reveal than Zero for example ever had before it's release ... Though that was on the WiiU as well.

Let's see if they can leg out their 3rd reboot with another game to follow it up this time

I thought new players would be driven away by the characters looking hyper realistic.

Guess some people will never learn that putting your personal view as general consensus (with absolute no data to backup) will get you nowhere

Would this, potentially, be the first game from Nintendo with DLSS? Not sure if they have used it previously on DK and MK.

So far no first party Switch 2 game uses DLSS, including DK and MK.

If I had to guess, I'd say this looks like it doesn't either as it instead has the look of higher res native rendering where you can see aliasing if you look very carefully at say the water surface in the distance, something DLSS would usually clean up.

I would expect it shoots for 1080p/60fps portable and 1440p/60fps docked without DLSS, similar to say Mario Kart, albiet this time with visuals that look more like they were built for Switch 2 from the get go instead of starting as a Switch 1 game.

I feel like a lot of people thrown by the realistic characters never owned the original SNES/64 games back in the day and are instead used to how Fox/Falco look in Smash Bros where they're more cartoony.

Even in the SNES game, the box/cartridge art and manual used "realistic" live action puppets to portray the characters, while Starfox 64 was as close to "realistic" as you could manage within the 64's limits.

This approach is very much a return to the series roots.

I think 90% of the game you can't even see the characters, so who gives a ****?

Not directed at you, just my feelings on how much the designs are not that important.
