Very curious. Sony needs to do something, but given prices, I don't know what. Selling half what the Switch 1 pushes, lol. Bad.

The PS5 needs to be looked at in isolation from Switch at this point, and relative to it's potential as a home console/other home consoles. Even as far as a hybrid/handheld is concerned Switch is performing unlike any system before it. Insane longevity.

OP: It's unfortunate Pragmata won't launch same time on PS5 and S2, would of been a fun comparison since it is in fact a new IP (no established audience on either platform). PS5 sales are solid imagining it has a decent digital ratio but I'd hope it has longer legs than the usual AAA release.

Fair.  I mean the ps5 is very profitable and doing well, just not Nintendo well.  Fair, I'll concede to your point.

Tomodachi W1 Sales Comparison:

  • Animal Crossing: New Horizons (NS) - 1,880,626
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf (3DS) - 721,786
  • Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream (NS) - 565,405
  • Pokemon Pokopia (NS2) - 541,371
  • Tomodachi Life (3DS) - 411,025
  • Story of Seasons: Pioneers of Olive Town (NS) - 202,396
  • Disney Magical World (3DS) - 105,008
  • Tomodachi Collection (DS) - 100,371
  • Miitopia (NS) - 72,725
  • Disney Magical World 2 (3DS) - 69,864
  • Miitopia (3DS) -28,231

Those Tomodachi Life sales show why Sony's coming handheld isn't really a game changer, Sony doesn't make games like that, if Japanese people cared about playing stuff like Resident Evil or Pragmata on a handheld then those kinds of games would already sell big numbers on Switch 2. Its stuff like Tomodachi Life the average Japanese wants to play, and Sony doesn't offer that stuff.

Tomodachi is getting the Switch boost that many other franchises have gotten.  On top of that most Switch games get around a 50% digital (give or take several percentage points).  Tomodachi might have already sold close to 1M in Japan alone.

Yes, it is sold out physical since day one..   so  digital is the only way to get this game-

Can't wait for Rhythm Heaven Groove !!

Somebody forgot to remind Switch 1 that it's been replaced and has no business posting these kind of number in it's 10th year, absolutely insane.
Great opening for Tomodachi Life as well; Pragmata did okay for a new IP too, shame the Switch 2 release isn't this week.

This is a pretty unusual week. There's a big new Nintendo game but the Switch 2 not only didn't get any boost it even declined and the PS5 Pro and regular PS5 went up for some reason. Seems the lack of a Switch 2 edition mattered and the Switch 1 is higher than I thought it'd be so I guess this is the very last game that'll cause Switch sales to increase to any notable degree. A 30k+ week outside the holidays this late in its life is pretty insane. This is gonna be the last year of note for the Switch 1 and in Japan in particular it's gonna remain more noteworthy than expected this year.

Switch 1 is eating up Switch 2 sales...
