And Tomodachi Life likely had around 1M launch including digital sales, so it had the best late gen launch of any game on an older system in Japan just by including its retail sales.

Tomodachi's first week performance is incredible.  I wouldn't be surprised if Rhythm Heaven got 100k+ in it's first week though.  We'll see.  The Switch may still have some more records it can set.

NS1 is selling 21k on average so far.

it needs around 17k weekly sales baseline to pull a million, still a bit tough! We will figure out of what nintendo is planning soon though!

This means that PS5 could outsell Switch 1 for the first time in yearly sales in Japan during its seventh year on the market (2027). Both Switch 1 and PS5 should sell terrible next year in Japan but PS5 may sell slightly more.

I think this is unlikely.  Yes, Switch sales will continue to decrease, but so will PS5 sales, and PS5 just got a price hike.  On top of that PS5's total hardware numbers are inflated for Japan.  For the first few years scalpers were buying it up just to export it.  It's not a popular system at all in Japan, and the software charts really reflect that.

If Nintendo keeps producing it, I feel like Switch 1 could continue to sell til like 2028. There's clearly still significant demand, especially as its the only (relevant) system that's relatively cheap.
It's really just a matter of how long much longer they continue making it.

Its going to happen, not sure why everyone on this forum keeps trying to compare NS1 to past Nintendo consoles and thinking it must follow in it's footsteps. NS1 will easily do more than 1 million alone in Japan this year. Why would Nintendo just stop production? It's a cheap way to Nintendo game, theres still a nice demand for it all over the world, higher than Xbox in every region (and Microsoft is still producing series x) and in Japan NS1 is always above PS5. 

Honestly, Nintendo could keep even the lite model in production for most of NS2 lifespan if it keeps selling. Following past Nintendo production timelines is meaningless. NS1 has broken all records, and Nintendo is a different company then during the DS/3DS era. Also for most games that are being made today, NS1 can still run them fine. 

Lastly, I doubt Tomodachi Life is the last major NS1 release, I remember people saying Zelda: Tears would be the last final major release. Yet here we are years later saying the same thing again.

I'm expecting another Kirby game because HAL loves doing late console life Kirby games. We still have the rumor that Planet Robobot is getting an HD Switch port, so I think that will be it.

Rhythm Heaven Groove is coming in July, so Tomodachi's definitely not the last.

While I do think it would be a good idea to keep Switch 1 alive for years to come as an entry level system for lower income customers, Nintendo may choose to kill it off to move people on to Switch 2, or to free up production capacity for making more of Switch 2.

The system could keep rolling for years to come, but whether Nintendo will allow that remains to be seen.

I'm expecting another Kirby game because HAL loves doing late console life Kirby games. We still have the rumor that Planet Robobot is getting an HD Switch port, so I think that will be it. 

Yoshi's Wooly World was also shown on list of Switch games playable on Switch 2, so that could also be the last first party release, though I can only see that pushing a few million.
