Regarding the trailer, it being single player focused is a nice thing, if they make it right they could have an Splatoon 4 having both moves at the same time and it would be a great package.

I have a theory that Nintendo may be considering a strategy similar to what Microsoft is doing with Halo Campaign Evolved: Sell the single-player campaign at a cheaper price tag ($50/$60USD), and then sell the multiplayer aspect separately and for cheap. So as to better ensure an active and lively multiplayer community. Doesn’t sound very Nintendo TBH but IDK. Nintendo can be unpredictable at times.

You're probably not wrong actually.

This game looks like it's expressly made to get player who don't play multiplayer online games into the IP. It doesn't look like a super high budget game, but something more expressly made to fill that purpose.

For comparison that is double the file size of splatoon 3

You can get that by higher res textures alone in a lot of cases.

Also, I must say, big props to Nintendo on this trailer. I’m so tired of all these CGI trailers intended to serve as nothing more than “hype” drivers. They simply compiled a couple minutes of gameplay, and left it at that. No expectations. Just a normal game showcase.

That said: I don’t know a ton about Splatoon gameplay, so it is admittedly a little hard for me to discern what’s so new about this game in comparison to something like Splatoon 3. I see that one axe weapon, and a lot of elements carrying over from Salmon Run. In any case, it looks like a blast as far ss I can see! Fun way to close the Summer. Can’t wait to see more and get my hands on the game.

Yeah echoing this, it's so refreshing to see a game trailer that shows plenty of actual gameplay instead of just cinematics like what feels like 90% of game trailers nowadays.

The gameplay looked very interesting.

I'm just worried about the lack of visual variety (seemed really uninspired). Also, is it just me or the graphics look on par with Splatoon 3 on Switch 1, just obv high res'd?

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Not being a full price release, I suspect they probably deliberately stuck with their existing graphics tech to keep the budget under control, and seemingly just bumped up the resolution and the amount of stuff happening on screen tot ake advantage of the extra horsepower.

Hmm, I was curious about this one but I think I'll be waiting til Splatoon 4. The Environments don't look so enticing and the action looks more linear when what I played/enjoyed in 2... Also all that visual noise with the hit points & extra pick ups. It kinda reminds me of those games based on endless raids.

Single player focus, like really?  I don't do competitive shooters, but always wanted to try Splatoon.

edit

Well **** me.  You are right.  Not sure why I ignored this game and made the assumption it was multiplayer.  Well between this and FE, cool, my S2 will get more air time.

Yeah, the trailer says it is focused on single player and shows a map you'll be exploring to reveal new areas. Very likely involving how much you are painting over the map you are into. It may even have coop for that, that would be great.
