I still like how Doom 3 looks lol.

Don't get me wrong, I can still enjoy Doom 3's graphics for the technical accomplishment they were at the time, I just meant more that the Xbox version's compromises stick out pretty strongly in retrospect.

Yeah I've certainly had moments where I've revisited a game that blew me away in its time, and gone "wow, this is showing its age." Doom 3 and Riddick on the OG Xbox blew my mind as a teenager, but looking at them now, the years have not been kind.

Yeah, Bloodborne blew me away last night, so does not look like I thought it. I still think style ages well, so something like DK Bananza will age amazing.

Yeah generally speaking, stylized games age better, especially if they're 60fps.
Games like F-Zero GX, Starfox Adventures, Metroid Prime 1-3, and Mario Galaxy 1-2 hold up better in my view than a lot of much more advanced games on more powerful hardware just cos they're simple, clean, and run smoothly.

Absolutely no doubt. Hell, pains me to say it, Wind Waker on the GC holds up better than Bloodborne because of the style choice.
Granted Sony and From could easily fix BB. Luckily fans already did. I just need to get my brother on PC.

Yeah I'd say Halo 1 has weirdly aged better than Halo 2 just due to having a cleaner, simpler look

Yeah. It's like, Halo 2 has a pretty art style just like the first, and it does try to do a couple of neat things (like the caustics in the underwater hallways in Regret), but it has so many problems that result from trying to push the OXbox hardware. There's draw distance and pop-in issues. There's a lot of little details missing (the ammo packs you find lying around have ultra-fuzzy text, as opposed to the clearly legible text in CE). The particle effects are worse. When it looks nice it looks really nice, but as a whole package, Halo CE just looks better and has aged even better. On the MCC I always play CE on the original graphics, but for Halo 2 I stick to Anniversary graphics.

Agree with pretty much every game mentioned so far. Would also add Luigis Mansion, Pitfall: The Lost Expedition, Wario World and Mega Man X: Command Mission.

Luigi's Mansion and honestly a lot of GBA games. Sprite art is just so visually appealing to me...makes me wish AAA devs would consider revisiting the artstyle more often. Sonic Mania, for example, continues to stand as one of my favorite platformers of all time.

Lots of sprite art in indie games these days. I agree, it looks great.
I don't know what looks best, but Generation 6 is around my sweet spot for 3D games. They look "good enough" for me while still having a good variety in gameplay and game type. (Gen 5 is my ideal for 2D games, which is a shame, because there aren't a lot.) I played FFX on my PS2, and I thought it looked great on my PVM (and the game has a few very high quality cutscenes). When I play a Gen 6 game now it looks better than I remember, because I was only using composite cables back in the day, and now I use component cables.
curl-6 bet me that PS5 + X|S sales would reach 56m before year end 2023 and he was right.
