Holy hell, the Switch 2 version of RE9 outsold the PS5 version this week?!?

Interesting.

That's a very good sign that there is continuous demand for it.

I believe the Switch 2 version will end up outselling the XB's in the long run, which is a great thing.

Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

Globally? I think it will be surprisingly close but I think Xbox has a decent lead when incorporating digital sales. Switch 2 will be more leggy at retail/physical charts as were seeing in the UK.

A shame we'll probably never get an exact platform breakdown from Capcom of digital+physical

It's certainly a positive indication of interest; the game did well on the eshop charts in the weeks following launch as well.

While it may not be topping the PS version anytime soon, it doesn't need to to be a viable investment for Capcom, especially with Xbox waning.

Switch 2 is doing well, but I hope Tomodachi helps it rebound a bit next week.

Tomodachi is a Switch 1 game so I don't expect a hardware boost for Switch 2 from it.

The Switch 2 had its lowest weak of the year yet but it should do better next week while the Switch Lite shooting up to 10k again brings the Switch back above 20k again. I expect the former to mostly benefit from a Tomodachi Life boost but the Lite could help the latter a tad. Also the PS5 drops under 10k again and might stay there for a while now thanks to the regular PS5 and Pro tanking. Without the cheap digital model we'd for sure be looking at a baseline below 5k and potentially below 4k going forward so good thing that exists.

My guess as to the (relatively speaking) lower NS2 sales is likely because NS1 is sucking up some of NS2’s market, being that the next big new Nintendo release is a Switch 1 title. It’ll be very interesting to see how NS1 & NS2 sales figures will be impacted by a game as massive (in JP) as Tomodachi Life.

That would be strange to me since the Switch 2 can play it as well and is a way better value purchase. I looked at how the 3DS was boosted from the last Tomodachi Life and it did get one but not that much despite coming out early in its life so I'm not expecting that significant of a boost either way.

Not sure if looking at the impact of the launch of TL on 3DS makes a ton of sense IMO being that the franchise was premiering at that point. That said, with over 150mil Switch systems out in the wild, it'd be hard for any software to move any notable number of units.

Also, to your point on value proposition: If you're somebody who's only just now looking to purchase a Nintendo system, and solely to play the latest Tomodachi Life, I'd argue that the best value proposition would probably be the cheapest SKU available that plays the game. Especially when you factor in that the OG Tomodachi Life was exclusive to a handheld, the lack of a Home Console mode would almost be entirely meaningless to a consumer in this position.

Though those are just my two cents. Take em or leave em.

Yep, high time for a Nintendo direct with some news about one of the Nintendo heavy hitters like Smash, Kart, Animal Crossing or Mario Jump & Run to keep the momentum going.

It actually started on the DS, that one was Japan only and did really well selling a few million. I just can't see there being many people left in Japan who haven't gotten a Switch yet who would over a single game but you already alluded to that in the first paragraph so we're basically in agreement.

Yeah with the Pokopia boost having come back to Earth and Tomodachi or Yoshi unlikely to give much of a bump, they'll need to do something if they want to keep momentum strong.

Yeah, globally. Since XB doesn't seem to have much life left, I totally believe the S2. version will end up outselling it in the long run.

NS1 keeps defying some odds.
Even a preliminary tomodachi boost?
Let's see if ns lite has sufficient stock, but regardless if it doesn't and eventually gets replenished again, it means ns will be a live oak for another year. This is the first week of the new fiscal year, 10th for NS.

Too pity Nintendo didn't release an ns1 lite TLLD themed.
This would scatter once and for all the doubts about how much longer will be available.
