A game so good I sometimes played with a migraine often the fun outweighed the pain and that's about the best review I can give it so I'll say no more asides from the one man dev, Kenny Sun must be an absolute genuis. If there is one game I Platinum this year it'll be this.

You are a machine...or you have a time machine, I can't decide. Great list for this early in the years. We're only at like 38% on 2026. You could easily double this and have room to spare, You've already almost beaten your record. 

Man, genuinely one of the best years of gaming ever. Starting the year with Stalker 2 which was an incredible experience. Some absolute belters like Reqium, Nioh 3, Pragmata.. some best in class like Reanimal. My longest smaller game run of like 17 games and massively welcome surprises like Saros. Very few duds, only AI Limit and Planet of Lana 2 where truly bad.. heck even Life is Strange Reunion was a genuinely ok game. Think most I’ve ever played in a year is 61, so if this year keeps up then oh boy.

My time keeping of recent games is skewed and it's bothering me, only thing I can do now is check the HLTB for completionist when I Platinum Ball X pit and hope it's accurate. I'm 5 to 10 hours off my estimation cause of AFK farming.

After SM2. I went to do some old school stuff and played Rogue Galaxy, didn't realise it was PS4/5 now with trophies but after a time, I did the exact same thing I did 20 years ago and stopped when the main character went super saijan. But mainly because Hades 2 released on PS5. After my runs on it I'm counting it as done. At some point I'll get the plat but that seems grindy and while I haven't done the epilogue, I'm counting it.

Hades 2 in general was superb but I found it too much compared to the first. First felt streamlined and the heat felt challenging enough to be rewarding. I beat the main part of the story here and I'm still unlocking things and modes. It's a lot, too much even. Not complaining about value just sheer amount of things and options of what to do or play. Kinda feel if they added less it would be no less awesome but would have come out a year ago (2 years on Switch) and we'd be nearing a new one from Supergiant game by now.

Then between this I did play A Little To The Left, fun little puzzle game. Much needed for me at the time.

Nioh 3 (Platinum)

Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne

I have been too busy to update this. I have been playing a lot games, but mostly the unbeatable type. Now I want to update this, so here we go.

The first new game I bought this year was Nioh 3. It is an amazing game. But in my opinion Nioh 2 was better. Whether it be Samurai mode or Ninja mode, this game is great fun. I played 99% in Samurai mode, because I love 2h axe. If they got rid of it, I would probably rate the game much lower, but in the end they kept all weapons and will even add more. Gameplay and stats are slightly different from Nioh 2, but easy enough to adapt to, and any respec is free. Either through my own skill or because it truly is easier, the difficulty was not harsh at all. Some bosses gave me trouble but I had a blast getting through it. Eventually you can learn the bosses so well and nearly perfect them. The mobs on the other hand, much easier, no difficulties at all compared to the DLC of Nioh 2. However I am sure Nioh 3 will get some DLC eventually. The platinum was only a couple of hours extra, so I quickly got that as well. Overall a great game and so far GOTY of 2026.

I played Zeus Masters of Olympus campaigns. It is a very old city builder game. However it is still a game worth trying out if you like these types of games. It was difficult to understand things at first, and there isn't really a tutorial so I looked things up a few times. I still don't know how to use the military. I played through my goal, which was the Sparta campaign. Managing the needs of the populace to then build up the economy and make a ton of money to get what you want was great. But the fun must end at some point, the old clunky stuff got old eventually so I moved on to...

Another old game in Shin Megami Tensei 3 Nocturne. This game I was hyped for to fill my Atlus JRPG void. The first thing I was surprised by was by how much story there was. A lot more story than SMT V. The old PS2 JRPG style game with tons of information with the NPCs and worldbuilding. The next thing I was surprised by was that it actually wasn't all that difficult. Of course I only played on normal due to the reputation of this game, but overall it was fine. Anytime anyone could instant kill me I just switched to be immune to that. Eventually I got Last Stand making it pretty difficult to instant die to something. But it happened anyway in the late game. I was very sleepy and used an aoe physical skill against an enemy that could reflect physical , instantly getting rid of my last stand. I then healed myself to full, but the mobs still got some lucky hits in a row on my MC and killed him. Lost an hour of time there. Now I must say this game has probably the worst random encounters of any JRPG I have played, even with Estoma constantly on, taking 2 steps= battle. For that reason along with the age of things I can't rate it as high as other Atlus games. The ending I got was also hilarious, never laughed so hard at a JRPG ending before, but here we are, and I will live with it.
